Overnight stay and I've been bitten all over. The itching is unbearable but I'm not sure what i can put on them. I think it's bedbugs because the bites are either in a line or a triangle. Can anyone help (picture attached)?

Have you taken an antihistamine? I've found that and a cold compress is the way to go.

Octavia64 · 12/06/2023 05:51

Antihistamine cream is best. Lanacaine is also good.

Beluowens · 12/06/2023 05:56

I was going to suggest an anti histamine too. When my dd had chicken pox years ago, the dr said to use piriton to relieve the itching .

Hot spoon. Dip spoon in boiling water and press the back against each bite (works for stings too). It kills the venom.

The spoon should be 50c or above. But don't burn yourself.

Anti-histamine cream.
I don’t think those are bed bug bites, just a midge/ mosquito biting in a line.

This it really works.

This too! Or the lazy version is to use a hairdryer on them as long as you can stand and as hot as you can. Something about killing the protein in the venom I think. Anyway it does really work instantly.

Do you have any lavender essential oil?

Rub a bit onto each bite.

Hecate01 · 12/06/2023 06:28

If you suspect bed bugs you need to be very careful they don't hitch a ride home with you. They travel on clothing, suitcases etc so I'd move them out of the bedroom if I was you.

lightlypoached · 12/06/2023 06:32

Use a hairdryer to blast them. Hold it there for as long as you can bear. Do it again. Itching will die down. Do it again a few hours later.

Works like magic!

It's a tip I got off here when I was desperate one summer holiday and covered in bites. It's like the hot spoon method but much more effective.

Hint though: don't blast the fine array of bites on your arse, whilst naked with one foot up on the bed. Bechas if you do, your DH may walk in on you and wonder what this fascinating new perversion is all about 😂😂😂😂😂😂

As others have said anti histamine and then hot/cold on the bite.

Then get to Boots/Superdrug and get a bite relief zapper it gives a tiny electric charge that stops itching and is handy to have in the first aid kit

The heat thing. Instant relief.

scienceteacher101 · 12/06/2023 07:29

I came on to say the hairdryer trick but lots already have. Works so well. Worth the short burst of almost pain to kill the itch.

spacecadet · 12/06/2023 07:34

I came back and got straight in the shower, washed my hair the lot. But my handbag came up with me to my bedroom and now I'm paranoid I've brought the bugs back with me. They seem to have got angrier and redder since yesterday 😱

Anti histamine and I get those bite patches that you can put over them, they do ease the itching

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 12/06/2023 08:33

Tiger Balm

I suspect this treats symptoms rather than cause, but it does work. Or maybe it just makes your whole arm tingly so you don't notice!
