Stinky, sticky duvet cover/pillowcases

So, with the recent hot weather, I've swapped over from the winter to summer duvet. No issue here as I get them dry cleaned at the end of each season. However, I've just got the summer duvet cover set/pillowcases out from the airing cupboard and they stink. They've also got a greasy, funny feel to them. Everything else in the airing cupboard is fine so it's not the actual cupboard that's the problem. I've washed everything twice at 60 degrees firstly with white vinegar and secondly with Ariel Antibacterial laundry cleaner..... it all still smells unpleasant and not 'fresh' and like there's a residue on them, I'm guessing it's a build up of body oils/sweat 🤢. Is there anything else I can try or should I just bin them and get some new ones?! TIA

Leave them to soak them in the sink with a dishwasher tablet, then wash as normal. Should make a difference.

jeez… you do all of that and it still smells? I wash mine on a 30 degrees and line dry - now I feel slatternly😄

You've already tried what would have been my usual suggestions, so I would try Halo sports wash (Sainsbury's sell it). It makes the stinkiest sports kit smell normal again, so it'd hopefully do the same with your bedding. And then dry it outside in the sun.

I'm thinking they're going in the bin!

You said you get your duvet dry cleaned. I wonder if that is the issue? Were the covers kept with the duvets?

Dry cleaning involves lots of toxic chemicals.

Washing soda crystals would most probably help with this. Shove them in with another hot wash.
