MY CLEANING SCHEDULE (IT WORKS)

Hi I am new here but have been looking at posts and just thought I would pop on my cleaning schedule!!!
It as seen a couple of revisions but I basically started it after my son was born to keep on top of things - he is nearly 2 now and still on top of the housework!!!
here goes....
basic Principle is 1/2 hr in morning and 1/2 hour in evening. No more no less EVERY DAY.

Bleach/wipe down toilets each morning
1 load of washing a day
every other week I get behind furniture etc when hoovering

Monday
hoover downstairs, mop hard floors, dust downstairs
Tuesday
hoover upstairs, dust upstairs.
Wednesday
clean bathrooms, mop hard floors, 15 mins ironing
Thursday
Clean kitchen wipe down cabinets/inside oven/(including inside fridge)hoover downstairs
Friday
mop hard floors, hoover staircase 15 mins ironing
Sat
clean bathrooms
Sun
15 mins ironing

this way you are not repeating jobs and it breaks everything down into manageable chunks - TRY IT!

Thanks, i might have a go at that...

Mopping your floors 3 times a week. I'm not signing up for this...

Why are they so much dirtier than your carpets?

gem1981 · 19/02/2008 09:04

hi all my floors downstairs are hard flooring - and we have a toddler and a dog hence mopping 3 x times a week - we only have carpets upstairs and the dogs does not go up there - just found the fly lady site and i am reading it at moment - always on the look out for things to make my life easier!!!!

Hmm might give this a go.
Would take me a lot longer than half an hour to clean my oven and fridge though! I don't iron so the time can be siphoned from that.
When you have 'mop hard floors' does that include hoovering them too?
I'll let you know how I get on

donbean · 19/02/2008 09:10

thats basically what my week consists of except for the days i am at work. I absolutely refuse to do any thing on the days i am working.
I do my ironing on a Sunday evening then its all done for the week.
If i get a week off work i gut the whole house in that week.

donbean · 19/02/2008 09:12

fortunately we dont have bathroomS, we only have one very tiny one so that doesnt take much, gets done about 3 times a week.
I agree about routine to keep up with it all, is a v good idea, keeps me organised.

StealthPolarBear · 19/02/2008 09:13

feeling very lazy...

StealthPolarBear · 19/02/2008 09:13

think step one needs to be "turn off computer"

charliecat · 19/02/2008 09:14

Where does clearing away 3 very messys peoples clutter come into this?

moodlumthehoodlum · 19/02/2008 09:15

Step two, for me, would be, get off arse.

Karen999 · 19/02/2008 09:18

I just feel that I do endless trips back and forward to the kitchen, making breakfast, lunches etc......am forever cleaning in there....

However if I spent as much time cleaning as I did on MN my house would win awards...

StealthPolarBear · 19/02/2008 09:22

Karen, I'm exactly the same

bb99 · 25/02/2008 12:12

Just the thread of hope I was looking for - any tips on living with 3 housework terrorists, who seem able to completely either

a) just about tidy the house - well relocate mess into appropriate rooms - in less than 1 day

b) totally destroy any vestige of hw or tidiness within 5 minutes?

Should be getting to grips with it all now, but just found myself staring at the kitchen for 10 minutes in a kind of 'housework block'

Off to tidy RIGHT NOW....

brimfull · 25/02/2008 12:19

Do you pour bleach down the loos everyday?

Isn't that bad for the environment?

Can't you just clean the toilet?

Otherwise sounds a good routine.

I would need another half an hour tidying up first though.
