Would you hang your washing out?

I've just up, there are brilliant blue skies, not a cloud anywhere, BUT, there is still alot of frost underfoot.

Would you hang the washing out?

you have washing ready to hang out before 930 on a sunday morning? i salute you

MummyDoIt · 17/02/2008 09:25

No, don't bother. Until the frost has melted and the sun is strong enough to dry the dampness left by the frost, it's not going to dry washing. Only hang washing out if the ground is dry.

ecoworrier · 17/02/2008 10:09

Depends which way your garden faces. Ours is north-facing so no point at all today, but people across the road from us have south-facing gardens and their washing dries much better even with a frosty start.

TheMadHouse · 17/02/2008 10:14

It was like this earlier in the week and I hung mine at 9 and it was still wet ay 5pm, I had to bring it in to dry in the house over night.

LIZS · 17/02/2008 10:14

in the sun yes otherwise nto until frost has gone

bookwormmum · 17/02/2008 10:19

If I did that my washing would freeze before it dried - it's sunny in the back garden but frosty underfoot. The cars are all over frost at the front.

LardyMardyDaisyBoo · 17/02/2008 10:22

I would.....washing that has been frosted is so lovely and soft when it has thawed out...but maybe that's only if it's frosted after it has been out all day!

charliecat · 17/02/2008 10:23

I did. It WILL dry - the suns on it. And I will leave it there till it does dry!

Bellavita · 17/02/2008 10:25

I am a firm believer if the sun is out - get the washing on the line. But today, the frost is so thick (the sun is trying to peak through) I have put the tumble drier on.

Yesterday, frost had melted by about 9.30 so washing went straight out and it did dry.

Radley · 17/02/2008 10:26

Our back garden is a complete sun trap, hardly any breeze etc, the frost at the front of the house seems to be going

Washing that has been sundried is nicer than tumbled-dried IMHO as well as cutting down on electricity bills etc. I think as long as the sun is warm on your face then it'll dry eventually.

Let us know later on!

charliecat · 17/02/2008 20:22

Mine was dry at 5

southeastastra · 17/02/2008 20:23

yes i did last week, roll on summer

Indith · 17/02/2008 20:24

I do at the moment, doesn't dry but at least it airs. I'm sick to death of washing that smells of damp.

Mine went out at 9.30, and it came in at 4 dry.

I love hanging washing out too. One of life's little pleasures

weebleswobble · 17/02/2008 20:53

I hung mine out at 4 today because I'm working tomorrow and won't have time to do it before I go. I'll bring it in when I come home and finish off drying it in doors.

Such is the excitement in my life at the moment that this has me all of a quiver.
