Best and worst storage buys

Can you please let me know of your best storage items/things you've done regarding storage? And those you've tried and were not worth it.

I've tried those sock drawer dividers and they were more of a nuisance than anything. Fridge storage drawers that were all the hype on tinterweb...again much better without them. Also vacuum pack bags, didn't seem worth the hype.

One thing I have just done, is racked out the cupboard at the end of the stairs, and it's now a "stock" cupboard, which is fab. Loads of kitchen roll, tinned toms, foil, pasta, all manner of kitchen overflow items, with a bigger shelf at the bottom for big but infrequently used appliances. It's freed up so much space in the kitchen.

Trying to regain some control of our large cluttered house with quite minimal storage space. Please share your best (and worst) storage items...

Any shelving or units have floor to ceiling. Use the height of your rooms.

I have metal mini shelving things on the inside of doors good for spices and we have one for laundry bits and pieces (colour catchers, stain removers)

Do they help much? I'm not understanding how they add space, as won't they encroach into the cupboard space, by the amount of stuff they are holding, once the door is shut?

We have one on the door that shuts in front of our washing machine and tumble dryer. With other cupboards it means that more contents are easily accessible.

@RandomMess Amazing, thank you for the link. I’ve been looking for something like this for months!

I'd love to get the cupboard under my stairs shelved out to do the same as you @InceyWinceySpidy but there's a little bit of damp that must come up through from the cellar below- I only realised when I stored a bag of flour in there and it came out covered in green mould.
I suppose it could be useful for tins/sealed plastic packaging though.

I'm still working on storage solutions but I have a set of three drawers (a4 size) that I keep near the door- a drawer for documents, a drawer for birthday cards/wrapping paper and a drawer for little bits I can never find- hair bobbles, toothpicks, matches, spare keys etc. Keeps the worktops clear.
