Dry clean only...

A relative bought me a lovely pair of trousers for Christmas, which I've just worn but have now realised they are dry clean only.

I never had anything that's dry clean only before, can I wash them on a really low heat setting or am I going to have to find a dry cleaners?

TIA

What are they made of?

My dh has loads of 100% wool 'dry clean only' trousers. Like hell I'm going to the dry cleaners every week . . . I use a wool wash and use woolite or dreft detergent. And DO NOT tumble dry - that's where the real problems occur.

Some synthetic fabrics really mst not touch water. I once handwashed a pair of trousers in cold water and they came out all crinkly and half the size. Agree that wool can go in the washing machine on a wool cycle, ditto with silk.

49% polyester
45% wool
6% elastane lycra

Oops, cross posted with lots of people.

They're from Marks and Spenser.

I have washed some of dh's tousers in the wash at the lowest temp, but after a while they do get smaller, would probably be ok once, but i would advice them go to the dry cleaners in the future!
