I need a new set of tea towels.
Where do you buy yours?
Some I got in the past were not absorbent at all.

If you’ve landed on this thread looking for suggestions, we’ve compiled a guide to the best tea towels that are loved by Mumsnetters.

However, if you’re short on time, here’s a summary of the tea towel brands MNers are recommending on this thread:

🧽 Scion by Dexam Mr Fox Tea Towels, £13 for two

🧽 KitchenAid Kitchen Towel Set, £33 for six

🧽 Emma Bridgewater Strawberries Cotton Tea Towel, £12 for one

🧽 John Lewis ANYDAY Check Terry Cotton Tea Towel, £5 for one

I’ll admit I’m a tea towel ponce. We buy Scion and Sophie Allport from John Lewis.

They’re never using for drying up as we have a dishwasher, but our kids use them for general wiping worktops etc, so I’m always replacing them as they get washed so often.

I only ever buy souvenir ones, whenever we go away or visit somewhere I look to see if I can find a good one. Some you can tell in the shop that they won't be absorbant but often they just feel right.

RNLI ones are pretty good in my experience.

GandTtwice · 14/04/2023 21:52

Mine are from Lakeland, had them around 10 years now and they're still as absorbent as when I bought them

redspottedmug · 14/04/2023 21:56

We buy a huge bundles from Amazon, the thick white cotton with a coloured woven stripe.

Trampauline · 14/04/2023 22:42

I got some lovely good quality ones from Zara Home

LubaLuca · 14/04/2023 22:45

Mine are from M&S, standard cotton glass cloth type things so very absorbent and no fibres left behind. They're years old and showing no signs of wear.

Emma Bridgewater - just look in their sales

They are lovely aren't they?

AwkwardSquad · 15/04/2023 21:08

These ones - they’re excellent: https://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-anyday-check-terry-cotton-tea-towel/p1535177

Depends which kind you like! Glass cloths are the best imo but need a few good washes to soften up!

I cannot stand ticking type.

mMy facourutes are my oldest ones!! Some are very thin now, but dry & Polish glasses so well.

BarbaraofSeville · 16/04/2023 08:08

We got some Kitchen Aid ones from Costco, which are excellent.

I've also struggled with most tea towels on sale being quite shit at drying things. How hard can it be, they have one job, but these are great. I also found it more pleasing than you would think possible that they have an inbuilt tape to hang them up.
