my dd always wants me to hold her while i'm doing stuff in the kitchen. this is not practical as 1) she is heavy and 2) i often need two hands. can anyone recommend some kind of small item of furniture that she could perch on? preferably something small as our kitchen is minute, but from which she would be able to see the work surface (we have tried in vain with her bathroom stepstool, she can see nowt!). ta.

I just let ds stand on a chair

i plonk dd on the kitchen surface beside me all the time. I'm sure I never did this with ds. I do worry that she'll fall off.

You do get caged in stool things that someone linked to a month or so back, but don't suppose that'd work if your kitchen's small...

my DC have a 'poundstretcher' two-step stool, which folds. have had it years though, so don't know whether it is the sort of think they regularly have. More the idea of the thing.
how old is she?

We have a funpod, but maybe your kitchen isn't big enough?

Kick stool.

how old? dc's have been standing on a chair since 18mo (at the latest).

I use the wooden steps from Ikea for DS1 so he can help in the kitchen.

It was originally bought for me as DH designed the kitchen at his height rather than mine (and I am 5ft8) and I can't reach anything!

22 months, i could use a chair, but then it would be a pain to carry it back and forth and it would be in the way if i left it in the kitchen. i'm not afraid of her falling (although i wouldn't sit her on the work surface, not least because there is no room), i just wanted something small and convenient. i am aware it may not exist!

washersaurus - you wouldn't have a link to those on the ikea website would you?

This one here

DS1 is 2.6 and can move it around himself now - which he likes

ChasingSquirrels · 14/02/2008 21:14

we have one of the little ikea wooden tables and 2 chairs which is in the kitchen, the dc's (youngest 24m) pull one of the chairs up themselves to stand on.
But understandable that you want something small if no room.

oh, thank you so much! that is perfect. in fact i might have had that exact thing in mind.

thank you once more!
