Outdoor crockery

Thinking ahead to this summer's BBQs, I'm wondering what crockery everyone uses for outdoor dining, for both sit-down and more casual events?

I wasn't sure if adults would be happy using melamine plates (we have some for kids) and paper plates feel a bit cheap/nasty!

Do you just use your regular crockery, or have something a bit different (but still nice or with a bit of weight) for outdoor meals?

I’ve never thought about the crockery but we only ever use good quality plastic wine glasses and tumblers on the patio. I would never take glass outside in case it gets broken. Our plastic wine goblets are quite large so we don’t have to keep running in and out to refill! My daughter’s friends love them.

That's a great idea @mdh2020 - we have a couple of plastic goblets for picnics but a full set would be sensitive x

I got some nice Sara Miller ? melamine plates and gorgeous plastic goblets. They weren't cheap though. I think from wayfair, I'll see if I can find them. Cutlery, I just use indoors stuff.

These are the plates. Not wayfair. £30 for 4.

We just use our regular indoor stuff. My mum has an entire unit in her garden for storing the outdoor plates and cups etc for bbqs and garden parties but I don’t like eating off plastic plates and drinking out of plastic cups, it makes me feel like a child 😂 they also always smell a bit funny!
My sister and I frequently take the piss out of our mum (secretly cos she’d rip our heads off if she knew 🤣) about her trying to recycle plastic cups for next time!
I’ve got to be honest, I don’t think a glass has ever been broken on the patio and we have 3dc and have lots of get togethers in the garden.

These are not exactly like the set i have but they look nice too, IMHO, and don't smell 😁

This is it @TheChosenTwo - it's the super light-weight feel of melamine which I find a bit weird for proper meals outside, but maybe I've not found the right ones!

Thanks for the link @divorceadviceneeded - will check this set out.

We just use our regular crockery and cutlery (I don't have the storage space for more stuff).

I don't like eating off plastic plates etc unless I'm hiking so need lightweight non breakable stuff. Different with kids under the age of 5 though, and as a family we don't break glasses very often so plastic wine glasses aren't necessary.
