Hi,

I'm new to air purifiers and I'm tempted to get one after my breathing has been difficult. I'm not sure if it's dust etc. We have no pets but a big house. Could anyone give me recs or whether its a waste of money?

Hi also a bit of newbie to air purifiers but DH was suffering terribly last year with what appeared to be allergies. We also had a second log burner fitted which I was concerned about with having a young DS. I did a lot of reading into them and went for a Philips one (pic attached) I thought I'd try it and if no improvement for DH or noticeable difference with the log burner I'd simply return it. The difference for DH was marked he had a great improvement in his allergy symptoms so good we now have a second Philips upstairs 😂😂. I really rate them.

Sorry I should add we also have a big house hence the size of this one. Although fully renovated by us (painful 😫) it is dusty so again this model suited the size of our large kitchen/snug. HTH.

@mommybear1 thank you so much. I was thinking about one in my bedroom and one in my living room. The one you have picked might be too pricey for me but im looking at the cheaper models now

Is it nosey do you need to buy filters

mommybear1 · 08/03/2023 08:18

The @Hellenabe no problem the Lenovit ones have good reviews I was tempted by those at first.

mommybear1 · 08/03/2023 08:19

@slowsnow hi no it's not noisy and you can select Sleep mode which is great. Yes you do need to buy filters but it tells you when you need to replace them and they last about a year. I've not had to replace mine yet.

I have been thinking about getting a dyson one as they’ve got fan as well . I shall get it soon before the sun season starts

I got one because I was concerned about the log burner. When we light it, there is no difference in the purifier at all-jobs on with its little blue light. However, when we fry (room semi open plan), the purifier goes beserk-loud and red light winking furiously. I never realised frying steak was so polluting! And it gets rid of cooking smells better than the extractor.

Yes, air purifiers certainly help improve indoor air quality. A report by Airtopia revealed 45% of British homes had levels of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) that exceeded healthy levels. See this list of best air purifiers for guidance on which air purifiers are the most effective at removing dust, smoke, allergens, and mould.
