How to keep my hoover smelling fresh and clean?

I have done some research this morning and had no idea that using shake and vac type products can cause your hoover - in my case dyson cordless - to burn out the motor.
I have heard some people use zoflora with similar concerns.

I don’t want to break my hoover but do want it clean and smelling nice. What can I use?

Google 'vacuum fresheners' they're little discs or blocks of scented stuff that go in the hoover. Cheap and they do work, i replace mine about 1-2 times a month and i hoover twice a day

I put some of the lenor beads in the drum everytime I clean it out. Works

I was just about to say this. You can get some really lovely ones. I buy mine online and their that strong they last around a month.

Alternatively before I found out about the discs, after washing the foam filter thing, I would soak it in fabric conditioner for half an hour, let it dry on the radiator and then pop it back in. It always smelt amazing for ages afterwards

You chuck it out on the pavement and either get another one or never hoover again

Is essential oil ok to pop in the filter?

What did your Hoover smell of? I don't think mine smells

??? I never put my nose inside my vacuum cleaner. I guess it probably doesn't smell great as it spends all its time sucking up debris, but that's its job. Why would I add fragrance to it?
