Washing powder | Sainsbury's | Not dissolving

I switched from Aldi non-bio to Sainsbury's non-bio because the Aldi powder didn't dissolve properly.

Sainsbury's have changed their packaging (smaller box, similar number of washes) and the dosage quantities have decreased. I did two washes today, using the recommended amount of powder, and both washes left a large quantity of partially dissolved white crust in the dispensing tray.

Has anybody else had problems with Sainsbury's new detergent?

Maybe try putting it straight in the drum ?

What temp are you using?

I've had this exact same issue with Tesco own brand powder. I was thinking I'd need to spend £££ on a branded one instead but will try putting powder in drum suggestion.

I had this problem too, I gave up with powder and use the liquid, much easier.

greenacrylicpaint · 07/02/2023 06:24

had the same here in winter when the incoming water was too cold.

powder straight into the drum is the solution. no more manky drawer.

I put mine straight into the drum before the washing. Recommended to me years ago by a washing machine engineer

ladymacbeth · 07/02/2023 06:29

Yes I have this issue with Sainsbury's powder now! So glad it's not just me.

ThisGirlNever · 07/02/2023 09:42

Thanks. I'll try the drum method.

When the washing machine starts, it usually runs the drainage pump before filling with water. Is that ever a problem ?

I alsoput straight in the drum.
Also my engineer told me not to wash less than 40 as it doesn't dissolve or clean properly.
He literally had to dig the undissolved gunk out of the pipes.
I wash at 40 now and do a 90 degree wash once a month to keep it cleaned out.
All these "money saving" tips cause more issues in the end!

I agree with other posters about cold water - in the winter mine doesn’t dissolve, either. I put it straight into the drum and keep liquid in for things that I want to wash cool or cold.

windyarse · 07/02/2023 09:59

If you don't get good results from putting it in the drum you could try pouring some warm water in the tray when the water starts trying to shift it

ReallyNeedingSleep · 11/02/2023 00:43

I've been using this (alternated with persil when on offer) and regardless of which powder I use, when the incoming water is cold, I usually do have some (albiet not much) stuck to my drawer, my mother has said the exact same thing as has MIL so the only thing we can think of currently is the water being cold causing it. I sometimes pop a bit into a liquid dispenser ball and bung it in the drum instead when this happens
