I know I want one ... Who'd have thought it would be this important to me??

They both look handy, there's about £3 difference - tho the Powermop also requires batteries and its own cleaning fluid and pads, the Speedmop only pads

I know I could just be better at using my traditional bucket and squuegee mop, it's just that I DONT and anything faster and neater that gets me cleaning the hovel is a bonus.

Anyone tried them?

please help me decide - Flash Powermop or Speedmop??

I've got a steam mop and I will never go back!

I have both Blush in my defence I have a garden that becomes boggy easily, a keen football player and a mud magnet dog.

speedmop's pads come out very wet so you have to work quickly to distribute it.
Power mop you have better control over amount of cleaning fluid used so it's better for larger floor areas and I think the pad is more robust. I've had the power mop 3 years and changed batteries once.

I looked at both these and ended up with the Vileda spray mop. I was swayed by the fact the vileda pad can be put in the washing machine rather than keep having to buy new pads, like with the Flash options.

I got sent both these for testing. They are both good but not worth it for the price of the pads and the bottle of replacement cleaning solution. I invested in a steam mop, must better and the pads can be washed.

I have the Flash power mop which is good. I also bought reusable and washable pads off Amazon, they were reduced in the Black Friday sale, and these have been great too.

I tried the speed mop, the wipes were really wet and starting to cost a fair bit so I gave it away and got a spray mop, with extra washable pads.

Those of you with steam mops can you use them on Karndean? I am worried about the "planks" lifting. Thanks.

Speedmop works for me on my ceramic tiles, but we don’t have kids or pets and always take shoes off at the door, so our floors never get very mucky.

I like the speed and low tech of it, and the pads are wet enough to clean without getting the floor as wet as I do with a bucket and cloth.

MarthaJonesPhone · 03/02/2023 14:08

I've had 2 steam mops, they both died. They never seemed to really clean very well. I ended up with. Vileda spray mop, cheaper and no discernible difference in results.

fUNNYfACE36 · 03/02/2023 14:12

I wouldn't use a steam mop on wooden floors. Someone bought me thr yellowy green flash mop on the left and I like it.

Yayyayitsaholiholiday · 03/02/2023 17:02

I have the Vileda spray mop and extra cloths. Very easy to wash and reuse and very little water left on the floor, so they dry quickly.
I don’t think I’d want to use wipes that you bin all the time. Mainly because I’d hate to have to remember to keep buying them. Clothes go in the bucket by the washing machine downstairs as soon as they are used and washed every few days.

I've gone for the purple Power Mop.

To put it together, you join the two bits of handle together then slot that into the head unit.

Put the batteries in.

Put the bottle of cleaning liquid upside down into the holder, and push down til it clicks. At this point I realise you probably can't refil it with your own cheaper stuff… we'll see.

Then take the dry pad - looks like a huge sanitary towel - and press it onto the base. It grips like velcro.

Then press the button in the handle - the liquid will buzz out of the two nozzles at the front of the head, squirting the floor in front of you. Aaaaaaaand mop.

Looks nice, very easy to use, especially if you have back or shoulder problems etc like me. I really like the swivel head, it went under the bath and round corners very easily.

The used disposable pad was gross - this is why I need any help I can get upping my hygiene game!

Very effective, dried really quickly and I didn't notice any strong chemical smell.

Mine was £19.99 at Robert Dyas.

I have had a Flash Power Mop for a month. At first it was wonderful - especially as I discovered that, by soaking the bottle neck in hot water, it could be unscrewed and your own concoction use to refill it. However, not only does it get through the 4 AA batteries very quickly, but now it wont squirt the fluid out at all anymore! So I have reverted back to using a squirty bottle (ex anti bac surface cleaner one) filled with my own mixture. I have also heard that, instead of buying those expensive pads, you can stretch a fluffy sock over the mop head instead and pop it into the washing machine after too :) SAVE YOUR MONEY!

SilverShadowNight · 11/08/2023 22:07

@jaedee I have a Powermop. I got some washable pads from Amazon on a Black Friday deal. The batteries in mine have lasted ages too. I haven't managed to get the lids off the bottles yet thoughGrin but generally try and buy them when they are on offer.

I have the speed mop, it’s my second as the grips that you push the wipes into stop holding the wipes, I loved it when I got it as I’ve got a small bathroom so it was so easy and quick to clean. Now that two of them have had the same problem I definitely won’t be buying another one
