Hi all,

Our bathroom renovation has just finished and I'm looking for your tips/cleaning routine/product recommendations to keep it looking nice and shiny. I want that white grout and clean shower screen to last as long as possible!

Thanks.

Get a cleaner, it's the failsafe option.
That and just sadly accepting that it won't actually look super new and shiny forever no matter how well it's looked after.

Every morning, after using the loo and sink I clean the loo, sink, windowsill and chrome radiator.
Then I shower, and whilst wrapped up in my towel stood in the bath, I clean the bath, tiles and shower screen. Little and often works for me. I don't have the same routine for the skirting boards and floor though, and it shows.

I have a window squidgee thingy in the shower and do the screen after each shower.
I also use body wash instead of soap.

Squeegee the shower walls and use Method daily shower spray.

Ooh building it into your daily routine is an excellent idea! What products do you use? Sponge/cloth?

I've had a bathroom reno done recently too and I've been wiping down the bathroom after everyone's showered etc, just a quick spray ,wipe and dry. Keeping windows open for at least an hour. Ive been planning to clean grout lines with a toothbrush and cleaning paste every month or so but haven't yet😳

Peasepuddingbloodycold · 21/01/2023 14:54

Thank you! Make my own spray with vinegar, water and fragrant oil. Microfibre cloths. Squeegee for the tiles and screen.

Sometimes I use bleach on the grout and loo.

fizzyfood · 21/01/2023 20:40

First sign of limescale use viakal then use every couple of weeks between cleans to keep on top of it.

AdoraBell · 21/01/2023 20:43

We have very hard water so I vinegar, diluted with filtered water, on the shower door. Method for the rest and as pp have said, wipe things each day. Full on clean once a week.

DdJames · 21/01/2023 20:48

HG lime scale remover is great, especially on shower screens.

Furball · 21/01/2023 20:53

E cloth - to wipe down the tap every morning - takes literal seconds for a quick wipe and makes a difference.

I had grey grouting done to hide stains (it still looks good 11 years on). Everyone squeegees after their shower. When black spots appear in the white seals, I make a cigar out of loo roll and bleach and press it in and leave it overnight. It looks brand new in the morning.

WeRateSquirrels · 23/01/2023 21:01

Window vac! Once everyone is through in the morning I quickly run it over the window, mirror and shower screen, then a quick wipe round all the sealant with a cloth. Makes a huge difference getting all the moisture out quickly.

Also leave the extractor fan on and window open for a while. We have a water softener so no lime scale.
