Neff Slide and Hide Oven door cleaning - HELP

Do I REALLY have to remove and disassemble the whole door every time water drops between the panes of glass? I can't believe that you cannot remove the plastic cover by the hand and open separate the panes for a quick wipe. I've just watched a YouTube tutorial and it's suggesting a full door removal with screwdrivers, coins and a fair few fiddly parts to remove and reassemble.

Does anyone else have one of these ovens and a workaround?

I have one of these ovens and unfortunately, I think it’s a screwdriver job. Mine’s getting desperate now but I’m trying to ignore it for a bit longer.

I've only ever done it once (in 3yrs of ownership!!). It's quicker and easier than you might imagine. Rather satisfying too. Follow the you tube video and you can't go wrong.

My husband let an M & S lasagne fall down between ours. The mess.

I am no Housefrau but I used to do a quick wipe between panes at least once a fortnight on my old oven. It took 10 seconds to whip off the plastic thingy and separate the glass concertina style and run a cloth.

I love this oven but can't believe I have to live with drippy glass if I can't be arsed with actual DIY. FFS

We have two. get an expert in to do the clean. Watched a video .looked a nightmare to follow, a spring could disappear and a fiddle to recover.

I don't mind paying for an annual oven clear or whatever, but I am used to being able to wipe away any drips straight away and can't believe it's going to look dirty for 80% of the time if I don't dismantle. It's a small, first world problem, but it's really annoyed me.

One of my clients has two of these ovens - I followed this Neff YouTube video:

… and it was fine! Just took things slowly, everything came apart and fitted back together perfectly. The second one was very quick to do.

She did put in writing to me that if anything went wrong, she wouldn’t hold me liable - I wouldn’t have done it otherwise.

I know, dead thread, but indeed, what a ball ache. I think the morale of the story is never pull it down to sit things on it, fully retract it then buy telescopic runners and extend them to lift whatever you have in the oven out clear of the door.

Re workarounds, am contemplating putting a bit of fire proof rope I have left over from my woodburner door along the top of the oven to cover the glass gap when in use, then whip it out & store in drawer till needed again. I’ll let you know how I get on.
