Brushed copper sink

Scampi13 · 14/01/2023 18:26

I'm looking at buying a brushed copper kitchen sink, like the link below. It says it's a stainless steel construction. Will it scratch easily, and can you use bleach/Viakal to clean etc or will that ruin the copper? Or should I stay well clear!

Any advice would be welcomed!

Below is text from the CARE GUIDE:

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
• Use natural cleaning products only and no abrasive cleaning cloths.
• Weekly cleaning with warm soapy water and a microfibre cloth is recommended.
• Dry after each use to reduce watermarking and surface rust.
• Use diluted toothpaste and water for hard to reach places and to restore the vitality of
the finish.
• When cleaning, wipe in the direction of the brushed grain to maintain the brushed
appearance.
• For renovations and new builds, flush pipes before first use.
• To best maintain finish, do not let water pool.

CAUTION
• Do not use chemicals or abrasive cleaners. This includes:

  • Bleach and bleaching agents
  • Ammonium and ammonium agents - Highly acidic cleaners
  • Alcohol and mineral-based solvents
• Limit exposure to high levels of salt. • If your product comes into contact with any of these chemicals, rinse immediately with warm soapy water. • Avoid scourers and rough brushes for cleaning. • Avoid contact with sharp objects which could chip or scratch the surface. • Do not put heat directly on surface.

Personally I'd stick with stainless steel. (But I’d have stainless steel countertops like in a commercial kitchen if I could.)

Do not let water pool would be the deal breaker for me. Life is too short to dry out the sink every time you use it

Tbf the care instructions are the same fir the stainless steel version

They look beautiful but ive heard they are reslly hard work. Can get black spots due to oxidising.
If its not getting heavy use go for it, i couldn't as
I use a lot of bleach in the kitchen and I dont have a dishwasher so wash dishes in the sink, currently a belfast sink, have had it for years and its like new. Ive washed clothes, dishes and even small children in it ha.

We have a sink like this. I don't use bleach anyway so not a problem for me but nope, no bleach! It has scratched a bit. We've had it two years and I can see me being fed up with it in a few years time! 🙈 I use a nice washing up bowl in mine otherwise it would be worse. But it means it ruins half the look of having a nice copper sink!

Sounds like hard work, life is too short!

Sounds very hard work, or you’d have to use a bowl which defeats the point…
