HELP! Orange stains

Hi all

DH was in charge of DS this morning and gave him oranges with his breakfast as he was wearing his nicest white jumper 😭

It's now covered in orange stains. Have used vanish and put it on a hot wash. But nothing.. stains are still there.

Is there anything I could use on it ? Or should I put it straight in the bin 😭

For the record we don't usually feed our DCs in nice white clothes 😂

Try hanging it in the sun (if you have any) - always gets rid of stains like that for me.

Never, ever wash food stains out with hot water- always cold. I've used ace bleach for whites when mine were at the weaning stage. Worked wonders.

Oh dear 😅 sounds like I've made it worse. In my head because of the hot water .. stains would come out 😵‍💫 I've clearly missed a few "how to mother" lessons 🫣😂

The vanish powder stuff for whites gets rid of it. My son adores oranges and he constantly has juice stains on his school polo shirts

Thank you. Will try if the sun ever comes out

Hot water sets the stain as pp have said, Vanish is good though so might work.

Lindy2 · 13/01/2023 14:30

I second sunlight. More tricky to do in January obviously but hang the jumper in direct sun as often as you can and the marks may well disappear.

mightymam · 13/01/2023 14:31

Hot water can set the stain deeper:

I've never tried vanish but can vouch for Ace bleach.

Doesn't even need to be bright sunlight IMO. Moonlight also works

You don't end sunshine, just time outside will do the trick.

dementedpixie · 13/01/2023 14:40

I'd try rubbing washing up liquid into the stain before washing in bio powder.

Kam610 · 13/01/2023 14:44

Try not to let the stain dry otherwise it will set. Soak in a basin of warm water with oxy powder and leave for a few hours. Always works for me with any kind of stain. Sunlight also helps.

Tannedandfake · 13/01/2023 14:46

I use Tesco clothes washing liquid, rub directly onto the stains, leave to soak in for an hour, then wash on a normal 30/40 degree cycle.
Always works on ketchup, bolognese type stains

scrivette · 13/01/2023 14:53

Putting it on a bright windowsill may also help.
