For those of you who sort the clean laundry into one basket per person

Could you please show me a picture/send me a link to the ones you find good?
ATM I sort into 4 piles and leave each pile in the airing cupboard. I put away mine and DC , DH puts away his own .
I'm trying to streamline/declutter/tidy this year so this might help.
Plus 2 out of my 3 laundry baskets (for putting away clothes, not the hampers for dirty ones) have broken so I need to get new ones anyway.
I know it'll depend on size of airing cupboard but ours is reasonably big, probably 1m x 1m
Thank you 😊

I just use different coloured plastic baskets. Don't bother putting them in a cupboard

RandomMess · 11/01/2023 11:25

We using folding crates and make the DC sort clothes, when younger they helped by doing pants and socks etc.

RagzRebooted · 11/01/2023 11:25

Flexible, trug style ones don't crack. I'm fed up of having broken laundry baskets, but I did realise the other day that it's totally my fault as I tend to dump them heavily on the floor rather than placing them down!

NoSquirrels · 11/01/2023 11:29

These Addis square ones. Small enough to encourage the buggers to empty the baskets! Had for 2 years and very sturdy.

I have folding crates. Two small ones for the DC, with handles so they can carry them upstairs one-handed. Two bigger ones for DP and I / bedding / towels etc. They all stack when they're in use, and collapse down and tuck away when they're not. They aren't the most robust though, and if we (DD1, I'm looking at you!) dump them down heavily, they will crack. One is currently held together with tape, but needs replacing.

This sort of thing, although I'm fairly sure I bought them from Tesco a long time ago.

They are expensive but I use these folding brabantia ones

Something like this - everyone has a drawer which I put in their rooms when its full.

All goes in one basket when washed and dry. I sort and fold. DH's stuff gets out on his bed, I put mine and kid's away. Only stuff that then sits in a basket is what's left to be ironed, although DH does his own shirts.

Mueslikid · 11/01/2023 11:54

I just use those sturdy shopping bags from Aldi.

inappropriateraspberry · 11/01/2023 11:54

I got soft fabric type baskets (more like the type for dirty laundry), but they have handles and can be folded down and put out the way if they ever get empty!

OKScarpetta · 11/01/2023 11:56

I use IKEA bags- they fold up, we have loads anyway and they’re the perfect size for a load (or 2) of washing… we’ve had various other baskets but they take up space we don’t have!

MermaidEyes · 11/01/2023 12:00

That's far too many laundry baskets for my liking!! I have 2 for lights/darks to be washed, and one to take to the washer. When it's done it gets folded and I put my stuff/towels etc away, the kids stuff just gets added to their floordrobe 😆

TheRookie · 11/01/2023 12:14

Each load just goes into one basket, take upstairs and fold into four piles on our bed then put away there and then. If I had a basket per person, it would just live in there!

PolarBlair · 11/01/2023 12:54

Thank you all for the suggestions.
I love the Brabantia baskets but they might be a little pricy.
The trug is a good idea as I too am heavy handed with the baskets!

IKEA bags. Very versatile.

Whattheladybird · 11/01/2023 22:27

Folding crates here. I’ve still got one i took to university in 1999 - it has done a lot of moves. In contrast the ones I’ve bought in recent years have hardly lasted, so if anyone can recommend a modern supplier…

shard5 · 11/01/2023 22:30

I use the Matalan fabric ones, they're quite small but that just means the kids are more likely to put the stuff away.
£4 each at the moment

Me too! I have them in the bench in the utility room.

This.
I'm confused as to why you would sort it into piles and
a) put the piles into the airing cupboard
b) then put each pile into a basket.

Why not just put each pile on each person's bed and cut out the moving round of piles ?

MaverickGooseGoose · 11/01/2023 22:54

We added the 'basket of doom' when it gets full everything gets shared out, kids have to pair the socks

I put the clothes into the airing cupboard as an extra step because we unfortunately haven't got a tumble dryer so the clothes might still be damp. And also because I might have time to take them upstairs but wouldn't necessarily have the time to put everything away right then
I do know it's less efficient and is a pain in the neck !!

I put everything in one basket and then just put it onto everyone's beds.
