Burnt my new induction hob - help!

Hi there

Im new to induction hobs and have been using it for a few weeks with no issues. Today I cooked a steak with my pan which I've used on it previously with no issues, I put it on the highest heat and it seems to have burnt the hob. There's are weird rainbow coloured stain which I can't seem to get rid of. I've tried the method orange daily kitchen cleaner and then some white wine vinegar, but it's still there.

Is this something which won't come out? It's sort of scared me to use the thing now! My pans are all for induction hobs so I'm surprised this has happened. It's a shame as it doesn't look so nice now! 🥲

I've attached a photo which sort of shows it.

Bicarb paste and a microfiber cloth?

It will never stay looking lovely for long if you're actually using it to cook though.

Don't worry, you haven't ruined it. This happens to mine sometimes. I usually use hob brite or barkeepers friend to clean it .

Special hob cleaner cream will sort that. Get the correct stuff.

Agree with pp suggestions.

But Lakeland also do these silicon mats to lay over then hob to protect it while you are cooking. Well worth it. Still get the odd bit going through the mesh but not the hard baked on stuff and it stops scratches from the pans. And apparently you can use a tea towel too, but haven't tried that!

Barkeepers friend works on mine

Have you tried hot water and fairy with a white scourer pad (don’t use a green one as that will scratch it). Then wipe down with a dry tea towel. Let us know how you get on!
i do this all the time and fairy always works. Good luck!

I wouldn’t put a scouring pad anywhere near it. A cream cleaner will sort it out
