Heat pump dryer - what am I doing wrong??

I've had a heat pump dryer for over a year now (non branded, it was from the kitchen supplier).

It take ages to dry anything on a cotton setting (about three hours) - which I understand is common. However, most of the time the washing comes out damp, and needs airing by hanging on an airer which defeats the object somewhat. I've also noticed that the water tank is often empty or has about a teaspoon of water in it when finished.

Is this normal?!

No its not but is it in a really cold area?

I had to send mine back, I had no idea you cant use them in a cold area(terrasse/outhouse/veranda.

No, it's integrated and next to the washing machine in my kitchen diner which is the warmest room in the house.

Mine takes about 3 hours too, and I have to put it on the extra dry setting and be careful not to overload it, so sometimes if I’m doing bedding for example, I’ll dry one set and hang the other over the door, then swap them over.

But my water tank does fill up. And it does dry eventually! But as I say, only on the extra dry setting which is 3.5 hours. “Cupboard dry” at 3.25 hours is still damp.

It was a shock after having a super cheap normal one that dried well in about an hour. I got this one as it was meant to be more energy efficient and also because it was supposed to not shrink clothes so I wouldn’t have to sort into tumble/hang. But it still does shrink things, so spent £400 to still have to sort it and hang half of it.

I also have a heat pump drier. It does take 2-3 hours to dry a load of washing, and I put it on the extra dry setting otherwise the clothes do feel a bit damp when it finishes.

However, at one point I thought it had developed a fault as the clothes would be in for hours and hours and still be damp when it finished. Then I realised that it had been quite a while since I had cleaned the lint filter. Mine has a bit for collecting lint that you can access when the drier door is open and I regularly clean it, but there is also a bit you can open near the bottom of the machine. Once I cleared the lint it went back to normal and works fine! Hope that makes sense.

Also, I need to empty the water drawer every time I use it. When I had the lint problem there was hardly any water in it. Might be the same issue.

Thanks @pharmagal
The front of the dryer is difficult to get to as it's integrated (there's a panel in front) but I'll have a look.

Have also changed which program I use and now use one which I can use the extra dry setting.
