Shark Klik and Flip Mop - where do I get distilled water?

I've just bought one of these mops and I didn't realise that you need to use distilled water. Where do people buy distilled water? And roughly how much is needed per use? How often do you need to stock upon distilled water? Thanks.

If you have a coffee machine you can distill water through it, I beleive. Just run it clean without any coffee in it

I get it off Amazon for occasional use. I use nrita filtered water in my steam iron that is supposed to have distilled water, with the odd bit of distilled thrown in. Seems to work ok.

It's quite pricey for water but you can buy big 5l bottles if you are going to use a lot that are better value.

Thanks very much nimbo and smartwatch.

I get mine from Halfords for about a fiver (huge bottle for car batteries) - lasts about 2 yrs for my Steampod hair straightener

icelollycraving · 06/01/2023 09:53

I buy it on my ocado shop, think it’s an M&S one. It’s not expensive but I just use it for my steam pod.

Tesco.

Or if you have a dehumidifier that's distilled water that it collects.

SBAM · 06/01/2023 09:55

If it’s just about it not having the minerals that cause limescale you could use ironing water from the supermarket, which is about £1 for 1L.
If you have a dehumidifier you could also use the water collected in that as it will have had the minerals removed.

A car maintenence place - the sort of place you can buy bulbs and wipers. They have big bottles of it.
Or amazon probably.

Wouldn't the water from a condenser drier be distilled? If you have one of those?

CrotchetyQuaver · 06/01/2023 09:59

We have used dehumidifier water in the iron for years, if you have a dehumidifier this creates distilled water.

The point is so it doesn't scale up. I would presume condenser drier water would also be good

AlisonDonut · 06/01/2023 10:06

If you aren't in a hard water area it really is unlikely to matter.

Cookerhood · 06/01/2023 10:12

Yes to a dehumidifier or condenser tumble drier. Not a coffee machine, that doesn't make distilled water. We bought a large 5L one (?Halfords, Amazon) & fill it up from the tumble drier.

Yet, when my Iron kept furring up and shooting limescale out, I was told to stop using ironing water. I did, and the problem, after I descaled it, resolved.

Distilled water all the way now.

£1.50 for 2.5l at Tesco
