Help me pick a tumble drier

I have cut down on our drier usage a lot but still use it about 3 times a week (towels, bedding & underwear usually).

Our current drier is a Hoover and it has sensor type buttons and it takes ages to turn it on, today I was turning it off and on at the wall and it took forever before I got it on. We ended up buying it in a bit of a rush when our last one wouldn't work so I want to be able to have my research done this time.

I don't think I want a heat pump - our drier is in an outside garage which I've heard doesn't work well with heat pumps. I also want to be able to dry things in one go - I've heard heat pumps can takes ages and it seems counter productive to be turning it on for ages when the whole idea is it saves energy.

We've always had a condenser as we don't want to vent (don't want a hole in the wall as we live rurally so rats and mice could be an issue.)

My only real requirement is a decent capacity so I can get bigish loads dry. Think it's 10kg in my current drier.
I would like if there was some capacity where it could text me that the load was done!

Anyone any recommendations?

I have a Sharp 9kg condenser it's the best drier I've had , and it wasn't too pricey.

If you did want a heat pump one we have a Samsung one and it is EXCELLENT. I don’t begrudge a penny of it. And it was a lot of pennies - about £800.

ah - they’re cheaper now - not surprising!

I sold a kidney to buy our tumble drier twenty two years ago, it is a Miele and still going strong.

I have the siemens iq500 Its brilliant. It is heat pump but I don't have any problems with it drying or taking a long time. Wasn't cheap but it's really good so far

I would LOVE a heat pump but it has to go into an outside shed (knocked back garage) so I worry about the winter when it can be quite chilly.

I'm torn between buying a cheap one or going for something expensive in the hope it lasts longer. This will be our third drier in 10 years.

I want a heat pump drier that does not roll bedding into a ball or where I can over ride the sensors

I've got a 10kg hoover condenser drier with sensors and I fucking hate it. You put a load on and it takes all day to to it because it keeps adjusting the time and turning off even though the clothes are still wet, so I'm all day putting it back on and forgetting about it. Will never buy one with sensors ever again!

My daughter has a normal hosed one and it's the best tumble drier I've ever seen. Dry a load of clothes in 15/20 mins cost £200 and it's brilliant.

Coming back to push Miele. 😂
