Help me plan my cleaning

I've suffered with depression for years but I'm trying to get my life back on track. I don't think my house is filthy and it's fairly tidy, but I don't know where to start with regular cleaning. I'm not obsessive about it, I clean the bathroom once a week, change the bed every two weeks, wipe the kitchen down when I wash up every day, hoover once a week or when it needs it, dust when I see dust 😬 It's just me in the house, but three cats too, although they don't moult much.

It's the other stuff, like how often do I clean the tiles in the bathroom, mop the bathroom and kitchen floors, clean kitchen tiles, dust skirting boards etc. I have fibromyalgia, so bending and kneeling isn't really possible anymore.

I use the sweepy app the free version you put in what needs doing in each room and how often then you can sort and see what to do when. I also find it very satisfying ticking done jobs off my list

Have you looked at TOMM?

ItsMeHiImTheProblem · 22/12/2022 19:45

I don't know either of those.

I use both suggested apps (I need a lot of help).

I also like TOMM but I don't use the app. You can just print off the sheets or look at them on your phone.

I downloaded the Sweepy app as I also really struggle with planning my cleaning schedule (ADHD, I get strong waves of motivation but can feel really overwhelmed very quickly if I don’t have a clear plan!) and it seems to have helped 🙂

For one minute I thought it said, let me plan my cheating! I thought how well organized you are!

Sorry no help on the cleaning I just do the bits that are most pressing normally and hope for the best.

I would categorise the level of clean into daily, weekly and monthly. For example, daily kitchen is as you describe - wash up and wipe down. Perhaps weekly kitchen clean is doing the tiles and the floor too. Monthly can be something bigger like adding in the oven and the fridge.

For things like skirting boards and a hands-and-knees floor scrub I do it once a year max.

Could you afford a monthly cleaner who comes in and does the jobs you can’t manage due to your disability?
I clean my skirtings / windows / under beds monthly, that’s all it needs.

I can't afford that at the moment. Once Christmas is over I'm going to see if I can cut back on something to allow for a cleaner for the things I can't really do.
