Slightly dull question about tea-making area and kitchen worktops

Has anyone got a good answer to keeping the tea-making bit of their kitchen nice? Our old worktop has horrible tea stains despite trying to always use a large tray. Tea seems to splash everywhere and the bit under the tray is now uncleanably horrible.

I appreciate that the answer must be some mixture of being more careful and getting a bigger tray, but has anyone found a way of dealing with this?

Apologies op I see that you do. My bad.

the only real answer is to wipe it up straight away as you go imo.

I used 2 pieces of kitchen rollfolded in half, put a new one out every morning & throw the old one away last thing at night, plus a teabag tray for old teabags, I'm trying to use all my teabags up before going on to loose tea & a plunger teapot.

We have space savers too. I have a small one next to the kettle about 7 inches square. Then we also have space savers, trivets and a couple of old coasters to save the worktops too. Wipe around straight after spilling too.

I think some nagging of your husband is also required. Is he really that messy?

Wow - I hadn't realised that this was still going! Thanks to everyone (particularly for the reminder of crocheted tea cosies which gave me a burst of nostalgia). We now have the new worktop and a very large and rather ugly Ikea tray.

It is working for keeping tea stains to a minimum but is very much not sparking joy.

I will also be adding nagging DH, being less slovenly generally and more careful pouring tea in particular to my 'medium term goals' list...

Oh lummox I very much like the cut of your gib, including your name - one of my favourite words! Usually proceeded by "lazy".

I think that the tray is a good short term win tbh

@lummox I know this an old thread but I have Ikea worksurfaces and similarly
messy/absent/lazy partner .
I have found that a spray with Vikal limescale remover and another with spray bleach ,leave for a few minutes leaves surfaces clean .
