Get a scourer sponge, dip it into bicarbonate and scrub. For grease on the door, wipe down with vinegar and a wet cloth. It really does get things clean and it's non toxic. I don't blame you re the Mr Muscle, I don't like chemicals near my food either.

I use Mr Muscle and it's fine. After I've rinsed it I put the oven on high for about half an hour and open all the windows. I leave the oven door open ever so slightly too to burn off the remaining residue.

Is it an old oven?

LilRedWG · 31/01/2008 10:51

My sister swears by Oven Pride. I've just bunged some in my oven so will give you the results in a few hours.

ovenu - from memory are excellent value and bring it up like new. honestly the best solution, you can't diy it to anything like their standard.

Furball · 31/01/2008 11:40

oven mate from lakeland.

A true miracle! just wipe it on, leave for a few hours, then literally wipe it off with a paper towel. No smell no nothing except a gleaming brand spnking new looking oven. Honest, it's lke magic

Oven mate sounds good, I'll pop into lakeland sometime, and probably come out with twenty other things.

NomDePlume · 31/01/2008 11:53

The one from Tesco is good, comes in an orange box. I think that is oven pride. You leave it on overnight (if your oven is as bad as mine was) and just wipe it off. Brilliant

Two hours into their soak and my over shelves are looking all sparkly in their big ziplock bag full of gloop.

jesuswhatnext · 31/01/2008 17:02

don't bugger about with loads of stuff yourself - look in net for oven cleaning company, cost about 50 quid, brings oven up like new - NEVER will i clean an oven again

LilRedWG · 31/01/2008 17:07

Oven Pride worked well!

BrownSuga · 31/01/2008 17:11

I just id mine with the lakeland stuff. I will never use anything else again, it's fab, and oh so easy
