Decluttering - organising

Something to do with a lovely sunny day and being totally fed up with the mess everywhere i have decided to just bag it all up and get rid.

Have started with clothes in a big black bag that will go to the clothes bank and have one open and in middle of for charity shop, have some really nice clothes but have no time for ebay and am not really sure what to do with them, have had pregnancy each year for 3 years (pg now) and so never really fit into anything and just have lots of 'oh i'll fit into that/wear that' next year and have heaps and heaps of clothes all over bedrooms. Should i just be ruthless and give them to charity shops too?

Next: DS1 is just over 2 and DS2 is 1 and i put all their clothes in big wardrobe mainly folded. They now have too many clothes (and am constantly bagging up 'grown out' of clothes to the attic and finding wardrobe (as not meant for kids) does not hold what it could - any ideas on kids storage for inside our adult wardrobes.

I have asked this already but something i can leave in the rooms (that doesn't involve sprays or burning) to keep them smelling nice.

Have massive washing piles/drying piles/put away piles that need tackling but have seen thread below and will go and find help there too.

So sorry if this has been too long.
Thanks for all help and suggestions.

dh put an extra rail lower down as well so you can hang stuff on two rails within the wardrobe

Label everything that you put in bags/boxes for the loft or wherever. Labels like "Toys for when DS is bigger" i have found very helpful indeed.

And if there are nice clothes you would like to wear again pack them away in a suitcase in the loft and then you will have a nice surprise when you go through them and do fit in them! (unless you plan to be pregnant forever then you will want them at some point!)

Good luck with your sorting, we are doing the same before the arrival of DC2 as i know we will have no time after and i want it done! Just focus on that cleansed feeling you know you will get when it's done and you see all those tidy cupboards! [sad old tidy lady emoticon]

My only advice is to be totally and utterly ruthless when getting rid of stuff. If you can be bothered to eBay, you could eBay job lots of stuff rather than listing individually, alhtough women's clothes are a notorious PITA to eBay. Do you know if you are having a girl or a boy? If it's a girl, you could get rid of stuff that both DS1 and DS2 have grown out of and that wouldn't be suitable for a girl?

Can you get one of those hanging clothes organisers from ikea to put folded kids clothes in - they hang from the wardrobe rail and create canvas shelving.

We are always getting rid of stuff, I just don't know how it accumulates, but I am really minimalist so stuff bothers me!

I got a lovely fragrance infuser for my birthday, it is a glass bottle with some nice fresh smelling liquid in it then you put these rattan sticks in the bottle and every week or so you turn them up the other way round.....it smells lovely!! Anyway.....these are really quite expensive, from a posh interiors shop in London, well...what a find...!! I was in Sainsburys the other day and i found one almost exactly the same, but abit nicer as it had a wood cover for the bottle and it was £4.75, they last about six weeks!! Give it a go it is really nice
