Towels that stay fluffy (no tumble dryer)

I think I'm in search of the impossible! I'd like some bath and hand towels for occasional use (guests) that stay fluffy. I'm not expecting them to look like new indefinitely, but just capable of retaining some of their ooomph!

I bought some in the M&S sale about two years ago and they've gone thin, scratchy and are fraying. They've only been used <10 times each!

Can anyone help with a recommendation?

Worth noting that we don't have a tumble dryer. We dry things outside (when it's dry) and on a heated airer (when it's not).

Thank you in advance!

I've bought some 30% bamboo towels from Asda for just £7 each. Fingers crossed!

How did you get on with them? Just looking at my scratchy towels...

They've stayed soft so far.

Yes, you are searching for the impossible.
A tumble dryer is the only way.

I remembered a hand cranked table top ‘washing machine’ for use in caravans.

I wonder if something like that used without any water to churn the towels when partially dry might help take away the stiffness?

Perhaps they already make such a thing. I know partially dry is the best time as I’ve put my partially line dried towels into my tumble dryer for ten minutes and it works. They come out reasonable soft for very little financial outlay.

Take 'em to a laundrette to tumour dry when they start to get scratchy.
