Ways to clean a carpet

I wish I could afford a carpet cleaner, it would fill my life with so much joy but alas, I cannot.

I have 2 grubby toddlers and a beigey carpet in desperate need of a proper clean, spot cleaning just isn't cutting it now.

Anyone have any ways or know how to clean a carpet? Not a massive area at all probably 2 by 3 meters 🙏

If you can’t afford a carpet cleaner, (£25 for 24hr hire of a rug doctor) then I guess spray lots of cleaner on it and scrub, using a bucket of hot water.

Spray with cheap shaving foam (foam, not gel), blot any stubborn stains with a clean cloth then leave to dry, when dry hoover up.

I didn't even think to look to hire one, thank you!

Do not use hot water - it'll fix stains. You can use original Stardrops in cold or warm water and scrub with an old fashioned scrubbing brush. Use the foam from the Stardrops and don't get it too wet.

I cleaned the kitchen carpet(!) in a rented flat this way and it worked really effectively. I've also cleaned a mucky sofa and armchair with fixed covers.

If you hire a Rug Doctor, use biological laundry liquid not their expensive detergents. You need to use something that doesn't create foam.

I've been there! I've had success with a DIY solution - mix warm water with a bit of dish soap and vinegar, then blot and scrub gently. Just be sure to test it in an inconspicuous spot first. It's not as good as a carpet professional cleaning (like https://palmercleaners.com/end-of-tenancy/kt4-worcester-park/), but it can do the trick in a pinch! Try it, too.

If you hire us you won't have to deal with all of the stress of end of tenancy cleaning. Just pick up the phone and organise a move out cleaning in London.
