What one do you have and would you recommend it?
What do you like about it and what do you hate about it?

Dyson v7 - a totally useless piece of junk

Eufy - gets stuck and/or clogged easily.

We went back to a vacuum with a cord, a Shark, and it’s great.

JadeSeahorse · 04/11/2022 16:29

I have the Shark Liftaway cordless pet model and it is great!

I have had it for 5 years now though and they no longer offer this model. ☹️ Shall be gutted when mine finally needs replacing.

PuppyMonkey · 04/11/2022 16:35

I’ve got a Bosch series 8 basic model - quite old now, about four years I think, and it’s still going strong. Think they’ve redone it with all sorts of snazzy extras now, but mine is old school. It’s very reliable, easy to clean all the trapped hairs out of the head etc. Seems to go for ages - I can do the whole house with it before the charge runs out, I do hard floors on normal setting and the carpets on high. I never use my old corded Dyson now.

MarchXX · 04/11/2022 16:46

Got a dyson. I prefer cordless because so quick and nifty. Even better my DH loves it and uses it more and I do. I tend to be left to empty it Hmm and clean the hair off the brush thing.

My mum (85) had a dyson but my brother convinced her to get a shark. She did. Sadly she can't use it, too heavy and awkward. I do her hoovering when I visit but do not like the shark, prefer my dyson.

Pudmyboy · 04/11/2022 16:49

I have yet to find the holy grail of a vacuum that is cordless and amazing on carpet!
This!!
I have 2cordless Sharks, the first didn't have anti hair wrap and the second does; I find the basic one is better at suction though as everyone has pointed out they are not good on carpets. I like the head lights as I have dark carpets: they really do highlight missed bits, but again as people have said, bits are missed because the suction isn't as good as expected. I do like the convenience of no cords and with the Shark they do fold over for neater storage, but have hung on to my noisy basic mains Dyson Ball for deep cleaning.

LazyJayne · 04/11/2022 16:51

I got rid of mine and went back to corded. It used to run out when I was in the middle of cleaning, which was a pain. I’m more of a ‘do the whole house every month’ instead of ‘run down the middle of the floors’ each day kind of person though. If you do little and often, it would probably work for you.

LateMumma · 04/11/2022 16:54

I've got a shark with anti hair wrap. It's really good, hold out for Black Friday deals - we got half price. Downside is it can be quite heavy, you need to change the head to get into the corners and it's needy. The head gets blocked, the tubes get blocked and the filter gets clogged. If you keep on top of that, it's a great vacuum - 40 mins battery life and great suction

VladsPants · 04/11/2022 18:19

I’ve got a Dyson v7 pet and I absolutely love it. Replaced an older version which I also loved.

bigfamilygrowingupfast · 04/11/2022 18:21

Dyson. Best thing we ever bought! It's expensive but ours is 3 years old this month and it's been absolutely fantastic - can't fault it!

Green4567 · 04/11/2022 18:26

Dyson v10. Love it. I got a good deal on an official refurbished one. Had it a couple of years now and still brilliant.

AriettyHomily · 04/11/2022 18:28

Dyson blade pet. Bloody love it.

Blogdog · 04/11/2022 15:48

I have a dyson. I hate hate hate it. Too inflexible to get into corners, hand hurts keeping the switch pressed all the time. I would bin it in the morning but DH is weirdly attached to it due to its marketing engineering credentials.

I won't be getting another one, my dad's £120 one from Amazon is far superior!

AriettyHomily · 04/11/2022 18:29

Dyson blade pet. Bloody love it.

It's not a dyson it's a Vax!!!

BeyondMyWits · 04/11/2022 18:34

Vax pet one, was great 2 years ago, now bloody useless, has the suction power of an asthmatic ant unless fully charged, boost switched on and filter washed just before use.

Chardonnay73 · 04/11/2022 18:37

I currently have 5 vacuums…
A cordless Dyson, great suction but battery keeps cutting out, have tried everything, cleaning it, replacing battery etc, nothing works.
A cordless Shark, absolute rubbish, could suck faster than that thing does 😒
A corded Shark, great suction but the motor keeps burning out, we are on our third in 5 years..
A cordless Hoover, good suction but tiny ‘bag’ area, needs emptying all the time, which drives me mad.
In a fit of pique (and desperation) I bought the Miele cordless. I am in love. Sucks like you wouldn’t believe, battery lasts long enough to do the whole house, doesn’t need emptying all the time.
That could all change though…

Buttons294749 · 04/11/2022 18:43

Oooh i wanted the miele but the reviews are a but negative.

I have a dryson v8 which is good, very eaay to use/lightish, i hoover crumbs all day so brilliant for that. My corded miele is more robust but very heavy

80sMum · 04/11/2022 18:53

I have a Tineco Pure One. I think 's pretty good. I keep it and use it upstairs, to avoid lugging the heavier, corded cleaner up the stairs.

Pros:
It's great on carpet and hard floor.
It has an auto function that adjusts the suction according to how much dust is on the floor.
You don't have to keep the on button pressed down the whole time, you can lock it to "on", which is easier on the fingers.
It's very easy to adjust the suction from minimum to maximum and everything in between.
It includes a special tool for automatically cleaning the filter, which is very handy.

Cons:
The dust container is tiny (though probably no smaller than most), so needs emptying frequently.
It's a bit messy to empty. I usually empty it directly into the wheelie bin outside.

mrs55 · 04/11/2022 19:02

I have a Dyson and love it so easy to quickly get it out and give things a quick hoover love the attachments only need to charge it once a week/10 days and we have a 3 story house, i don’t find it heavy or difficult but I suppose it depends on what model you get .

Fizzadora · 04/11/2022 19:05

Dyson V8 had it since they came out and can't fault it. I can do upstairs in one hit and it rarely runs out of charge unless I use high power. There's a knack on hard floors if you cba changing the head and use the brush. Love the small motorised brush for the stairs and car.

Cattytabby · 04/11/2022 19:07

I have a Dyson V11 animal. Have tried a lot of cordless vacuums. My previous one was Dyson which was old and nothing near as powerful as this. It sucks up my dog's short white hairs off my black rugs like nothing else I've tried. Battery is interchangeable and it's easy to use and empty.
Cons would be it does seem flimsy, but tbf it's lasting well with me and I am not gentle.
Also, the price!! But if it breaks, I will be getting another. .straight away.

nomistake · 04/11/2022 19:12

Vax here. Really good. I always love a vax vacuum, powerful and come with good attachments

rosiebl · 04/11/2022 19:14

We've recently switched to the Shark IZ320UK_SI Cordless Vacuum Cleaners in Silver from a corded vacuum. I got it from AO on offer for £279 (plus £19 top cashback) but it's gone up to £499 now. We love it. 2 battery packs. They last plenty long enough. Just have to get the nozzle to do the corners but that's easy enough.

Bigslippers · 04/11/2022 19:17

Caspianberg · 04/11/2022 16:03

Our shark is great. Stands alone, we have x2 batteries so one always charged, and handy attachments without taking whole thing apart

Sounds the same as mine. Mine is the anti hair wrap. I love mine and works well on carpets, stairs and hard floors
cordless for me has made life so easy.

Snozwanger · 04/11/2022 19:17

We've had our Vax for about a year and I've got no complaints. We got the one with the bendy hose attachment for doing the car which is great no issues with charge as I only ever vacuum just the lounge and then all of upstairs on another day. The ridges on the brush wheels make it easy to cut off the long hairs and there's no button to hold down to operate.

RollerCoaster2020 · 04/11/2022 22:13

To GTech vacuum cleaners and an AEG one. Battery for AEG is £180 to replace which is preposterous. The other battery is I found someone local who could rebuild them for about £30.
