How to remove self adhesive baby proof cupboard catches etc

We are about to decorate and will be taking the opportunity to remove some catches we put onto certain low cupboards when our son was tiny. Last time I tried to remove one by hand it damaged the laminate on a kitchen cupboard very badly.

Any tips for something I could use as a lubricant / similar to aid neat removal?

I think the gadgets in question are Lindam brand. Very strong self adhesive.

Thanks in advance!

Can you heat them with a hairdryer to release the adhesive? Online shops sell dissolvers too 😊

nail polish remover works quite well for that.

Sticky Stuff remover is good www.lakeland.co.uk/8976/sticky-stuff-glue-residue-and-oil-remover-250ml

As above sticky stuff remover is brilliant, smells quite a bit though.

WD40 can dissolve adhesives, and doesn’t usually damage surfaces, just leave them ‘oily’, which can be washed off with a soapy cloth.

If the catches have those sticky pads on them, then dental floss can work well!

WD40 is good, or eucalyptus essential oil on the sticky bits.

Thank you all very much. In the end a combination of several PPs' suggestions did the trick: dental floss (genius!), WD40 and sticky stuff remover.

Thanks again you wonderful people :)
