Just that I'm so used to wearing 'proper' clothes, I'm not sure I can muster the courage to wear one. I do WFH, so I'll be too embarrassed to wear one on Teams. I must admit the other day, my hands and feet were the coldest when I'm sat at the screen all day. I wear warm layers usually, so my core body is fine. Just my legs, feet and arms I feel the cold easily. I saw Swear By for body throws but still not certain that they work. They look very childish and dare I say it, not flattering at all. What do you lot think?

PS. I posted on CoL to find an electric gilet but still none the wiser.

I suggest you take your sneery tone over to Style & Beauty.

Get a high tech micro/ thermo gilet from an outdoor type shop. They are lightweight but very warm! I got a Rab cirrus gilet and love it! North face thermoball also good. Not cheap though.

The trick is to be quite close to the camera so they can only see your shoulders and head and then to hope you don’t need to get up for the postman.

SomethingAboutNothing · 19/10/2022 22:15

Sounds like you need a good warm pair of slippers, ones that have a back to them ideally. And maybe a heated blanket you can have on your lap that won't be visible on teams?

Fairislefandango · 19/10/2022 22:20

WellI wouldn't wear one for a Teams meeting, but I can't imagine why you would otherwise care if they 'work' or are flattering if you're just sitting at your computer at home! I mean... who's going to be judging your outfit?

Nachtvlinder · 19/10/2022 22:27

@Metabigot I have the Uniqlo down jacket which I bought for £70 last winter, but they're not that warm, sadly. I use it to wear as a layer underneath my winter anorak. I'll check out the Rab one you've mentioned, thanks.
@SomethingAboutNothing That's a good idea, I'll test that out.

Sometimes, I wear my dressing gown over my clothes, so that works fine for me, but the extremities are hardest to warm, though.

Thick socks, slippers, wrist warmers, something over your legs. My oodie is too hot.

resipsa · 20/10/2022 08:55

It really struggle with hands/feet but these keep my feet warm nicely...

Wrist warmers!

I struggle to be my best if I don't feel "right" in clothes and I've WFH for 8 years so I get it. I couldn't work in an Oodie either.

I could watch TV in one but not work!

TranquilityofSolitude · 20/10/2022 09:07

Hot water bottle for your feet?

SanpellegrinoIsToryFanta · 20/10/2022 09:10

Turtle doves cashmere wrist warmers/ fingerless gloves are amazing for keeping your hands warm. I wear mine every winter at work because I am always FREEZING.

SanpellegrinoIsToryFanta · 20/10/2022 09:11

Also, I have just bought a QVC oodie copy - a cozee home one. Now it's cream, and I may look like a huge marshmallow wearing it, but it's so toasty.

PuttingDownRoots · 20/10/2022 09:14

If its legs... thermal leggings under trousers.

DH has electric socks for motorbiking and skiing.

JeniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 20/10/2022 09:47

I have my Turtle Doves wrist warmers on now. It’s 17° in my house and my hands are toasty.
Boot type slippers for your feet and I love the heatgen long sleeve tops from m&s to use under jumpers.

Cynderella · 20/10/2022 18:52

I've got an Oodie. I agree that they're hideous, but so is being cold. So far, this year, I've just worn it in the evenings. We've not put on the heating yet, but I still find it too warm at times. It is comfortable, and I may wear it for work at home when not on camera. I'm finding that I don't need a hoodie - when I wore an M&S thermal layer rather than the merino, I did.

During the day, I'm layering up with merino and cashmere layers - some new and some second hand. I have fingerless gloves and a rechargeable hand warmer. Trick is not to let hands get cold in first place.

I have M&S fleecy thermal leggings under trackies. On my feet, I have walking socks under heatholder socks. I certainly noticed the difference when I just wore ordinary socks at the weekend.

Henryhooveredoff · 20/10/2022 18:58

Oodies are ridiculously warm. They are like wearing 3 dressing gowns at once. They make you look like you're wearing a fat suit, but if you're WFH who is going to see you to care?!

Nachtvlinder · 31/10/2022 20:08

I've already been using fingerless gloves, cashmere jumpers, scarves, hats and sheepskin slippers.
Are Oodies/Kuddlies bulky to wear?
