How do I keep my house smelling nice

I have a reasonably clean house. I use zoflora and have one glade plug in thing in the hallway. Other than that I don't have one of those houses where it smells amazing in each room.

I'm currently renovating the downstairs cloakroom and want to be smelling amazing for my guests!

Give me all your lovely-smelling-house tips!

I think really clean is the best smell, followed by vanilla candles

Wax melts!

Another vote for clean and I will also add well ventilated. You can scrub until your hearts content but if you don't crack a window it will still smell stale.

Anything smelly over the top of a not clean house will just smell like a musty house + whatever it is you've sprayed /burned.

I like the flash french soap stuff for cleaning with
Open windows
Wash any towels/bath mats often
Reed diffuser, I tend to go for clean laundry type scents

I do clean regularly, but that freshly cleaned smell doesn't last. Just want it to smell luxurious! Yes on the wax melts front, will maybe use those more

Open your windows. Not into synthetic fragrances.

Opening windows daily, wax melts and I wash cushion covers ect weekly ( also have 2 messy under 5s) wash the living room rug weekly as well ( have a elderly dog)

I think you just get used to the smells of diffusers etc, I just came back from a few days away and our house smelt lovely when I walked back in.
Home for a week now and I don’t smell anything!

Keep your house really clean and your windows open as much as possible.

Almost everything else is just nasty chemicals and you will become nose blind to them.

Other people’s houses smell of perfume etc because it’s novel to you. If you used the same in your house you probably wouldn’t be able to tell.

Which is why people end up wiping fabric conditioner over their radiators and using nasty candles and air fresheners, not realising that their houses smell like the household section of Asda 🤢

Nothing beats the smell of fresh air. Open your windows regularly. Cooking smells often cling to the kitchen walls. I wipe the walls down periodically using a floor mop. A dirty oven or microwave often harbours stale smells.

Hate to say it as it's so old fashioned but I love a sprinkle of shake and vac!
Also use wax melt burner's and have a plug-in near the front door

Agree with above. I avoid synthetic smells and candles etc because I have bad asthma and to my mind they just mask smells.

Keep the house clean and we'll aired. Rain or shine, summer and winter I make sure I open.windows for at least 30 mins to get fresh air flowing through. If you have soft furnishings and pet bedding make sure you wash and preferably line dry regularly. Line dried throws etc smell lovely and fresh

Use good quality candles and wax melts made of coconut/soy. Cheap paraffin candles reduce the air quality and can cause irritation.

Do a simmer pot.

Small pot of water on the hob to which you add botanicals.

At this time of year I like rosemary and bay. At Christmas I go for cinnamon sticks, cloves and orange. Spring nothing beats lemon and lime.

That's an amazing idea. I shall try that myself, thanks.
