Cleaning a shoe in the sink

14 replies

Please help settle a "debate".

Where should the sole of a sticky school shoe be scraped and cleaned?
Kitchen sink or bathroom sink/bath?

(Preferably utility sink but we have none)

For voting sake:
YABU = kitchen sink
YANBU = bathroom sink/bath

Outdoor tap?

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 07/10/2022 15:47

Well Barbara in the Royle Family cleaned dog shit off shoes in the kitchen sink……😂

fleurdelee · 07/10/2022 15:48

Has it got shit on it?

Slinkyminky22 · 07/10/2022 15:51

No poo that can be seen, it's food or glue or something.

Outside tap was also suggested, however it's pouring with rain.

Doesn't really matter as long as you clean the sink properly after

Slinkyminky22 · 07/10/2022 15:52

Kitchen roll was put down in the sink and lifted after the scraping was done. That was the sink clean-up.

If you routinely clean your sinks after use it shouldn't make a blind bit of difference which one you use. If you don't clean your sinks then you've got bigger issues than where you might wash shoes.

Kitchen sink. Or potentially the bath (just because the handheld shower attachment might be handy). I can't see any reason why it matters - just clean the sink/bath afterwards.

You would presumably use the bath (or shower) to wash filthy legs after playing sport etc, so you're fine with mud going down the drain? And you'd presumably use the kitchen sink to clean crud of (for example) a grillpan/BBQ/roasting tin that could have any amount of burnt on food/grease? Or dog/cat food bowls?

I mean, I wouldn't use the same sponge/brush I then used for washing up, but water comes out of the tap and goes down the drain, and the sink itself can be cleaned, so where's the issue?

Johnnysgirl · 07/10/2022 16:05

What were the "scrapings"? 😬. If there was any sort of poo involved, nowhere indoors.

Johnnysgirl · 07/10/2022 16:06

Oh, sorry, you've already said Blush

chocolatemademefat · 10/12/2022 08:00

Outdoors with a large jug of hot water and an old toothbrush. Wouldn’t be having iffy substances near my sink!

Goldieshock · 10/12/2022 08:08

Outdoors (cloth, bucket of soapy water, whatever) or bottom of shower tray

Not the kitchen sink!

elevenplusdilemma · 10/12/2022 08:08

Kitchen sink but I'd clear away the drainer etc beforehand so no yuck could splash onto clean dishes and then give the sink, drainer and adjacent worktop a thorough scrub afterwards.
