How the feck do I get rid of them? Been living here almost a year and they came with.

Been using lavendar scented products etc but it's having little to no effect and I have absolutely no idea where they're coming from. For reference the building IS about 30 years old now give or take and I live near water, which doesn't help. In social housing, would my landlord be able to help with this?

It's almost impossible to get rid of them unfortunately. We have had them for over 20 years, I have sprayed stuff that's supposed to kill them. Although we definitely have fewer than we used to.

You need actual pesticide for the little bastards, and I don't even think it actually gets rid of them, but I spray it all around the edges of rooms and anywhere there are cracks in baseboards etc and it keeps them from coming out as they can't cross the pesticide. All the websites recommend sprinkling diatomaceous earth to get rid of them, but I've had little success with that and it makes a mess.

Honestly... Every single place I've lived in as an adult has had some kind of bug problem... I can't win!! Apparently Caulk can help... may use it on the skirting boards. It seems to mainly be the bathroom currently which makes sense. I'm just fed up. It's so creepy creepy seeing a small blurry (I wear glasses) object move at grease lightning in the middle of the night! XD

They're a pain but relatively harmless. I've had issues with them in two houses. The first house was a proper infestation driven by the damp proof course failing and literally hundreds living in skirting boards. Fixed the course and replaced the skirting boards with loads of bug spray and monitoring I think I got rid of them, or at least trapped them where I couldn't see them. That was a nightmare. In my current house I used to get 2-3 a night by the downstairs toilet, which was cold and a bit damp. Suspect they came from under the house so lots of caulking and we put a radiator in there to make it warmer. Not seen one for a couple of months but know they are still there. Have come to suspect I will see them now and again so will kill them when I do and unless I get loads will just be the way it is.

I put cinnamon sticks on the floor in areas where they seemed to be coming up from the damp cellar in a previous house. It massively reduced the amount coming into the house.
