We had them above the spotlights in the ceiling last year. Think they came in because it was warmer there.

Check your loft

PlntLady · 29/09/2022 18:54

I expect they are already in the house. Probably the loft as a prev poster says. If they are you will need to have them removed and wasps builds a nest in the same place year after year (unlike bees that will move on after the season).

The entry to the loft is in our back bedroom and there's no way they can get from the loft to the bathroom

Could it be the vent outside that they are coming in from?

Google says exact opposite is true of wasps (and that bees also tend to move). I try to leave wasp nests alone in our garden & they have never come back yet.

Wasps!!!!!!

ps: we get wasps in house that were hibernating in kindling bags. If dying they aren't energetic enough to harm you.

Yes I have heard they never go back to the same place. They are definitely dying as they aren't flying around they are mainly on the floor or window! Just can't find where they are getting in from

We had them in the extractor fan grille thingy for a bathroom. Bloody millions of them in the summer. Not lately though tbh.

gamerchick · 29/09/2022 20:13

You've had a nest and it's on its way out. Don't bother looking for the entrance, the fuckers can chew through ceilings. You might have a couple of hibernating queens somewhere like.

justwonderingagain · 29/09/2022 20:18

We recent had our gutters cleaned and since then we've had 3 in the bathroom. And looked outside today and seen a few of them hanging round the gutter but it's too small for a full blown nest?! Could they be under the tiles in the roof maybe?

That's where I think they are coming in

ours pour into the dining room at night and ive assumed get in through the chimney as the windows have no gaps. Baffling. They all seem to be dying or semi dead too
