Ahh how exciting my life has become when these are my riveting questions! Trying to cut back on tumble dryer use and with winter coming, the outside line won't be as practical anymore, there seems to be 2 main shapes of clothes horse, any thoughts on which type is better? Will Post photos below incase I've not made myself very clear!
TIA 😊

These types? Or maybe there's something even better?

Tall ones are better

Also invest in a desk fan. It’s all about air circulation not necessarily hot circulation. Window slightly ajar, fan on, pointed at clothes.

I have one of these plus one like your 2nd image which is better for heavier items like jeans, jumpers etc

If you feel the traditional shaped ones are really for you...

I love this one:

Foppapedretti Octopus

But it is ££ (I got mine for £99 from lakeland but they've now stopped stocking them). It look good (and folds down small and still looks good - essential for me as I don't have a utility large enough to dry clothes) and is super easy to put clothes on (I put the wooden bar into the clothes along the seam). However, don't make my mistake and put it outside - it doesn't cope well with the wind blowing it over or with really heavy items. I've mended it though!

I have also now got something similar to this:

Drying rack

Which is great for using outside and for heavier items - it will fit loads on hangers. Easy to move inside when raining/at night and folds down easily.

These two are a great combination for what I need.

I've got the Lakeland electric dryer , I've only used it once so far as I'm still putting washing outside in the line to dry , but it worked pretty well . www.lakeland.co.uk/25372/dry-soon-3-tier-heated-airer-and-cover-offer-bundle

I have this beast. Takes 3 loads, with two sockopuses/ii on either arm - or loads of hangers. I can get 3 loads from a 10kg machine on it.

It does come in a lot of small bits but don't let that put you off.

Sorry - I meant aren't for you...

I have both types. The tall one is very good fit things like sheets. I think from John Lewis. The short one with wings that I have is from brabantia. It has lots of hanging space.

LesLavandes · 25/09/2022 13:27

Littleoet - that is a thing of beauty!

I've in invested too much time and thought on this as well Smile
IMO get whatever you find easiest to use and store, but get two for twice the space/circulation. I have also started using my airers in an upstairs bedroom where I can safely leave the window cracked open a fraction when I'm out, and this makes a difference.

deedledeedledum · 25/09/2022 15:38

I prefer this kind. It's shelves are adjustable

Can I just ask with the cover for the heated one, does that not just make the moisture gather inside it? Ie how does it evaporate?

Vapeyvapevape · 25/09/2022 15:42

@Iheartgeraniums its got air vents

Isonthecase · 25/09/2022 15:47

If you're limited on space have you considered a ceiling mounted one? Theory seems to be that hot air rises so hanging clothes up higher means it's warmer and better air flow. Also look pretty if you go for a traditional style pulley maid type. You pull them down with a pulley to access so it's the ideal height for minimising the backache.
