I’m thinking of buying a foodie 14-in-1 but am nervous spending so much, I wondered if you could answer a few questions please?

which functions do you use the most?
are there any functions you never use?
can you really cook a whole meal in it? Say roast potatoes and steam veg at the same time?
what is the best & worst bit about it?

I don’t know if I need one with all the bells and whistles (and worth paying for them) or if a lower spec would be just as good!

any wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

Hello! I've only had mine a month or so. So far I've mainly used pressure cooker/air fry/steam bake. I used the slow cooker once but wasn't impressed - will try it again on different settings as I used it on low but I've read that low is a bit too low and high works better.

I don't use saute much. Because the cable isn't long and I wanted to put it near a window for the steam escape, it's not in a great position to bend over and stir so I'd rather use the hob unless it's just a quick saute before pressure cooking anything.

My OH is veggie so I don't use it much for meaty meals - but I have started using it to batch cook gammon/chicken rather than buying precooked stuff to throw in my pasta/sandwiches. Not doing much meat is the main reason I didn't go for the 15 in 1 with the probe.

I'd never made bread before I got it but am getting quite into it! I proved some pizza dough in it but did the pizzas themselves in the oven.

I am intending to try yoghurt but haven't got round to it yet.

I don't have that particular model I have the older 9 in 1. I deliberately didn't buy the higher spec model as I know I would never make yoghurt nor dry food.

The functions I use the most are: sauté, air fryer and pressure cooker. I don't use the others much. I don't like food that's been cooked in a slow cooker as it all tastes the same to me.

I've never cooked a full meat, veg, potatoes meal in it however I like that I can tip a load of raw food into it, press pressure cook and out comes a fully cooked meal.

I use mine a lot even after a year of having it. The novelty hasn't worn off. I keep it out on the work too. If I put it away in a cupboard I'd forget to use it.

I find all my recipes from here:

How about as a rice cooker?

QueenOfCakeandCoffee · 06/09/2022 15:19

Thank you for the comments so far, I know I definitely won’t make yogurt or dry food either!

I batch, roast veg, oven cook (veggie sausages) cook lots. I have a bread maker and cook rice in the microwave… I suppose I want to know if I can cook roast spuds, veggie sausages and steam broccoli all at once?

I need it to be big, we are a family of 4 but often have guest staying and I always cook extra for leftovers….
thank you again for all of your thoughts, any stand out thoughts would be welcome x

I bought the 15 in 1 - it was on offer so same price as the 14 in 1. I think the only difference is the temperature probe which tbh I haven’t used. I wanted one with the smart lid so I didn’t have to keep switching.

I love it. I have used the airfry and pressure functions most so far. I am planning on using the dehydrator function to make sweet potato dog chews, whether I get round to it or not is another thing!
