Fleas in the house, no pets, I’m pregnant - is flea killer safe to use?

My partner and I have just discovered that we think we have fleas in the house. We don’t have any pets so no idea where they’ve come from but we saw one jump on my partner’s leg as we were sat on the sofa. We’ve discovered this at 9:30pm on a bank holiday so nowhere open to buy flea spray!!

My partner is going to try and get some tomorrow, my only concern is that I’m pregnant - will the sprays/treatments be safe to use in the house? I know you’re meant to spray then hoover after an hour or so but I’ve found so many things that I’m not able to use/take when pregnant (such as insect bite cream, for the horrible bites all over my feet and ankles!), so wanted to check before we spend money on something that it’s ok to use in the home while I’m pregnant.

Also if anyone has any tips on how to prevent please let me know. We clean the house regularly, hoovering, hot mopping wooden floors, disinfecting, dusting, you name it, so we’re mortified! Also as already mentioned we have no pets so no idea how they’ve appeared.

When I was pregnant the car brought a rat in with fleas so I just had my husband use flea spray and I stayed out for a few hours.

How sure are you that it was a flea? If it was only one, it could perhaps have been another bug?

Don’t know about pregnancy risk, if you use a spray I’d get partner to do it and air house out with all windows open for several hours before returning.

I don’t think I’d treat if I saw only one, unless you’ve also been getting mysterious small red bites? Or maybe just treat downstairs?

If you have fleas in the house, you'll be bitten because you're the best source of a meal in the absence of pets. I wouldn't panic yet.

Indorex says it's safe to use during pregnancy, just with usual precautions of about inhaling fumes and wash hands after use. Could get your partner to spray while you go out for a few hours. If you don't have pets and don't think any animal has snuck in though, maybe it was just one stray that hitched a ride on one of your from outside - might not need to treat the house yet.

Avoid inhaling fumes
