Dust in bathroom

Both our bathroom and ensuite are south facing with extractors which are good and removes the steam quickly and more efficiently than our old extractor.

I'm noticing a massive increase in grey dust bunnies everywhere. The sink is wiped daily as is the toilet and shower (plus a weekly in depth clean), but we don't often use the bath as we prefer showers and it's covered in them so I'm having to almost do a full clean every day - not a massive issue in itself but when I clean there's always damp bits of dust left which make me feel like a slob that hasn't cleaned.

How can I keep on top of this and get rid of the left over bits of dust efficiently so I'm not clogging my sink when I rinse my cloth before shoving it in the washing machine?

I've thought about hoovering but it lives downstairs and it isn't terribly practical to hoover the whole bathroom and ensuite daily!

Do you have new towels?

Pearlyqueen21 · 20/08/2022 09:45

I think a dust buster is the answer! I have similar issues in our bathroom, it’s grim. I would suggest a quick go round with the dust buster, then a damp cloth/mop afterwards. Shake the cloth outside before you rinse/wash it.

Have you changed something? If we have a certain type of deodorant, the bathroom looks like a dust storm every day.

You could use a bit of tissue first, just to pick up before you clean.

Not new towels, no new deoderants (although I can't say if any formula has changed).

I'm loath to buy a dust buster - I find that I need the duster head rather than solid bit to deal with the corners - of which we see to have far too many!

New toilet roll? Bizarrely we have noticed since swapping our brand to a cheaper one an increase in dust ...

womaninatightspot · 20/08/2022 15:36

Yeah I’ve found cheaper loo roll dusty. Robot hoover gets the worst off and I wipe down edges with a damp cloth wrap nice a week when I clean the bathrooms.

What is a dust bunny???

I've just cleaned my bathrooms and they're a bloody nightmare. I think it comes from the towels and the toilet rolls. Also hair. So. Much. Hair.

I hate bathroom cleaning.

Blastandbollocks · 20/08/2022 16:16

Ooh. I did change loo roll brand. Wonder if that's got something to do with it?

It is softer 😳so maybe it's dropping more little fluffy bits. Might have to reconsider.

Try old-fashioned feather duster (ethically sourced) with long handle- they’re brilliant. Pick up the dust in seconds.
