Septic-friendly hand wash

Anyone have any suggestions for a handwash that is eco-friendly, doesn't harm septic tank bacteria and is not too expensive? I've been looking at Ecover, but I'm not keen on the lavender scent, and Faith in Nature, but that is pretty expensive for a 5L bottle.

Bar of soap? Plastic free too! Or does it have to be liquid?

Do you definitely need septic friendly soap? My parents have lived in a house with a septic tank for nearly two decades and other than minimising the use of bleach and obviously no sanitary products down the drains, haven't changed any washing habits. Normal soap, shampoo, washing up liquid etc.

Yeah, bars would be more economical, but I like liquid as it doesn't make a mess round the sink :-)

To be honest I'm not sure we need special stuff except that I've seen advice to not use the anti-bacterial soap we all started using since Covid, so I'm trying to err on the safe side!

I really wouldn't stress about it, a septic tank holds generally about 3-5,000 litres. A few ml of soap isn't going to kill off all the bacteria there - and if you've been using it all the way through COVID and haven't had an issue yet one isn't going to start now.

I dont think you need anything special BUT have a look at Splosh. We love their products. (and if you want a discount code I can let you have one - or you may know someone else who can).

Ooh - Splosh looks interesting!
