What jobs do your kids do at home?

I have a 10 year old and an almost 8 year old DDs.

DD1 (10) - helpful if I ask but naturally lazy, will and can cook if asked, will empty the dishwasher, will set the table, tidies her room (poorly).

DD2 (7) - she is small for her age so things like dishwasher emptying are hard. She is naturally tidy but a hoarder. She does no house jobs at all but does put clothes away that she's worn, plates etc away. She has no 'jobs' other than sometimes setting the table.

What sort of jobs can I be giving them at this age that I'm not. There will be no incentive involved because I have tried that and it didn't work. I am planning on doing a summer 'rota' of house jobs and wondering what others kids do at these ages.

Both of them leave 'stuff' everywhere. How do others deal with that without constant nagging....?

I have an 8 & 6 year old.
They take it in turns to feed the dogs and cat, take milk bootlegs, recycling and rubbish out everyday.
they take out their plates after meals and if I ask they will put them in the dishwasher.
when September comes we’ve spoken about them making their own packed lunches for school.
you could ask them to set the table for breakfast and or dinner.
my friend has a family house tidy up on a Sunday where they all chip in.

my nearly 8 year old:

tidys her room
tidys the living room
will watch play with the baby while I cook dinner
she enjoys tidying my room (she likes to sneak squirts of perfume 🤣) I don’t mind as she actually does a really lovely job.
she has to scrape her plate and put them in the dishwasher.
bring her dirty washing hamper down
hang up clothes or fold and put away

Family tidy up is a good one. DH does that with them sometimes actually, I might start scheduling it in!!

Recycling bin is an excellent one. Eldest can definitely do that one!

My 2 year old helps out the shopping away, packs her own swimming bag and tidies her toys away every night, all with supervision of course!
I'd say at 8&10, there's really not a lot they wouldn't be able to do around the house. Depends how much you feel is reasonable in your home

Mine do bugger all. Ive just literally been rowing with them over asking to fold washing and put bin bags in yard.

16 year old with learning disability does recycling sorting things into different bins. He is supposed to tidy his to room but doesn't. DS 2 still lives at home. Is an adult. He empties rubbish bin daily. He empties dishwasher sometimes, he unpacks grocery shop and puts away. He makes room in freezer to squeeze more things in, shuffling things around. He keeps his room clean and tidy, does his own laundry and changes sheets, duvet. Sometimes pick we up shopping if he is at supermarket.

At 4 DD could change her bed (D's took a bit longer). At 8 they could both cook.

Now 10&12. Daily they tidy their floors and make their beds. Weekly 12yo tidies and cleans the the front room 10yo does stairs and landing (for money). One does the dishwasher for the week whilst the other mucks out the animals and they swap.

DD often cooks now too and did ironing this morning. She will also clean the car and cooker for cash.

Mine are 10 and 11. They keep their rooms reasonably tidy - make beds, laundry in basket, desk tidy - through the week and do a better tidy at the weekend.

The younger one feeds cats twice a day and the older one does dishwasher emptying in the morning. They both tidy our living room up as needed as they're the ones who use it most.

I get them to do stuff like weeding around the edge of the house, sweeping up the yard when needed. One doesn't mind helping but the other is very against it all.
