Help me find a nanny / housekeeper

First world problems and all that
I am about to start a big new job in September
For reasons that are very outing i do a full time role in three very long days

I have realised that as my kids have got a bit older what I need is a child friendly housekeeper rather than a nanny.

Only one child needs picking up from school now. The oldest walks to and from school and just need someone to check they are home and make their tea.

After school nannies who are students seem to turn their nose up at stacking the dishwasher and folding some clothes and so I come home to a really really messy house

I'm in London. I wondered whether a child friendly housekeeper might be the way forward rather than a nanny but have no idea where to find them for 12 hours a week

She lives in Nottingham and advertised in the Lady

I think you're going to have to lose the cleaner. A housekeeper will want to be in charge of the house.

I would keep the cleaner, find a college student to be a souped up babysitter for those few hours, and then keep the after school catering to a minimum, with pre prepared meals made at the weekends. Eg shepherds pies, pasta bakes (my suggestions are not great for this weather but you get the gist!). Then kids and babysitter given strict instructions to load dishwasher. Points awarded to kids for each day etc.

I disagree, you can easily have both.

We have a cleaner, and a nanny housekeeper. The two roles are quite separate.

I wouldn't expect our housekeeper to be scrubbing the bath clean, nor would I expect the cleaner to change the sheets or make dinner.

Thanks for all those who have been helpful on this thread
I'm now in a complete quandary as to what to do

Cleaner has been with us for six years, has very small children and comes to us on a Saturday to minimise childcare. Much as I would like to extend her hours that is not possible for a few years until she gets free nursery. We live in a town house and her youngest is a toddler and her eldest at different school to mine.
She's really fab - does beds, washing and is part of family

She does 4.5 hours a week and it's approx £250 a month

We currently have an after school nanny through a well known after school nanny agency. She's 'ok' - we have done a lot of work with her as have the agency. We have improved her reliability which was dire and has a nice relationship with the youngest but needs a lot of direction and makes a mess and won't do simple tasks like dishwasher etc.
We thought this was naturally coming to the end - hence this thread - as we needed until 7pm but she surprised us yesterday saying she could accommodate new hours.

Cost of her per month with new hours £848
So her and cleaner 1098.

This isn't working though - and feels like I'm still about to fall over at any minute. As I said in a previous post - DH does drops on days I work and normally leads on bedtime etc but is in high pressure job. I'm substantially more senior than him but don't earn city money (think charity sector )

Cleaner and 18 hour a week housekeeper is £1500 which is obviously the dream but out of reach I think financially

Housekeeper on good wage for 18 hours a week is £1250 without cleaner.

So do I ditch the beloved cleaner to try and get housekeeper ? Do I suck it up and do both but that would mean cutting elsewhere
Or do I limp on with the ok student and cleaner which is a lot of money and not great especially when I'm going through the biggest challenge of my career ?

PS I know I'm lucky - really lucky
