Abandoned housing association home... What do I do?

There's a house opposite mine which is owned by the local housing association. The family who lived there have recently done a runner and it's getting overgrown/unkept very quickly. We're trying to sell and it's becoming a huge eyesore and I'm worried it's going to put people off/drive the price down.

Will the association do anything about it or do I just have to suck it up? Any advice?

Just ring the Housing Association and ask them, would be the best thing to do.

Have you asked the HA? Do they know the tenants have left?

AmbushedByCake1 · 14/07/2022 09:58

Ring them, they may not know that the tenants have done a bunk.

They're not fantastic; I've had to deal with them before when trying to get a party wall agreement so I'm wondering if they'd even be interested if I rang up or brush me off because they can't be bothered. Or if there's even anything they can do?

The party wall issue would be dealt with by a different team to an abandoned property. Its worth a try. If the property is in demand (most are) they'll be keen to hear .

They can apply through the courts to end the tenancy if the tenants aren't living there. This takes a while. (So sooner started, sooner finished . . . )

If you have no luck with ha you can actually report it to the council because they are on the hunt for empty homes at the moment. They have fined loads of landlords over them

gamerchick · 15/07/2022 13:26

Course they'll be interested in an abandoned house. Give them or the council a ring.

IGotItInTheSales · 15/07/2022 13:29

Go over and tidy up the front area yourself?

NoSquirrels · 15/07/2022 13:31

Tell the HA.

In the meantime, go over with your garden tools and sort the front garden out. Presumably it’s just that which is visible/an eyesore?
