Carpet fitters ended up leaving a lot of spare carpet and I don't know how to get rid of it. I don't have a car so can't get rid of it that way.. Its just been sitting in my living room the past few days

Give it away on Facebook. Whenever I have done this it goes quickly.

TheSpottedZebra · 01/07/2022 13:24

If it's nice sized bits, post on freecycle.

evelynn03 · 01/07/2022 13:24

I did do this but I live outside of the city so no one wanted it

If Facebook Marketplace or Freecycle doesn't get rid of it, you could try posting in a local Facebook group and see if you can pay someone to collect it and take it to the tip.

HollowTalk · 01/07/2022 13:29

Wasn't it their job to take it away?

ParadiseLaundry · 01/07/2022 13:30

If they're fairly decent sized pieces I'd be amazed if it doesn't get snapped up in a matter of minutes on FB market place.

Might be useful for allotment holders for compost heaps?

Aposterhasnoname · 01/07/2022 13:34

Get the council to collect it.

NoSquirrels · 01/07/2022 13:36

Bulky rubbish council collection.

Cut it up with a bread knife and put it in the bin

Thats actually quite a good idea! Can you cut it into smaller pieces then OP so that it fits in your bin? Otherwise it's paying someone to come and get it.

Second this if no-one claims any. When we moved here the first thing we changed were the carpets- all faded and marked, no-one would of wanted them. To keep costs down we didn't ask the fitter to dispose of the old carpets. It took a few weeks but all but a couple of large pieces that we used in sheds went in the bin.

EmmaC78 · 01/07/2022 16:03

If no one wants it for free then only options are to pay someone to uplift it or cut it up and put it in your bin.

dudsville · 01/07/2022 16:07

You might not have the space for this, but I kept ours. We've used it to cover steps made for the dogs, for places for them to rest outside when we're out and the ground is hot or damp. You might not have dogs but you might find other uses for it?

I paid for extra pieces to be bound around the edges so they were large mats. I use them in high traffic areas and in front of a large window where we get sun damage.
