New bathroom - best solutions for easy life

I'm planning to redo my bathroom this year. It'll be toilet, bathtub with shower fitting, sink and some cupboards. Also tiling the floor and wall above the bathtub and sink.
Do you have any recommendations for solutions to make cleaning easier. Especially:

  • I feel like with shower screen and water taps I constantly battle lime scale. And then the products gradually make everything loose the shine and get scratches. Do you have any recommendations of things that are easier to maintain and clean?
  • Even with the best ventilation and regular cleaning after a while we get a bit of mould on the bathtub seal. Also grout gets some stains that I can't seem to remove. Any tips about that?
I believe those are my main problems, but if you have any other recommendations I'd be very grateful.

We got shower boards put in when we had to change our shower. They are a dream to clean, as no grout.

Lurking for other suggestions, as our bathroom is likely to need doing soon.

Wall hung loo with concealed cistern and wall hing sink, ensuring the mop can fit underneath, is easiest to clean. A built in bath will be much easier than a roll top too. Grey grout won’t stain anywhere near as easily as white but there are other solutions like micro cement or shower panels that mean no grout at all. A water softener is the best defence against limescale tbh.

I like the idea of built in storage for cleaning products and spare loo roll under the bath

shower controls outside of shower and bath taps on the near side of the bath not the far side.

And seat in shower

Very large tiles…
less grout = easier cleaning

Thank you so much, these are great ideas. We also have another bathroom or a shower room with a stand alone shower. We won't redo it this year, but it's such a pain to clean, even worse than the bathtub.

Big shower panels, not tiles.
luxury vinyl tiles on the floor not dark tiles
wall hung basin you can sweep under.

Buy a shower pod almost no joints and very smooth surfaces.

Re: limescale, not exactly a cheap option, but if it's within budget I would highly recommend getting a water softener fitted in your home. We recently moved to a place that already had one fitted, and OMG, it has been a life-changer. Limescale used to be the bane of my existence, but now it's gone completely, and cleaning the bathroom is an absolute breeze. That's not the only reason to get one, but it's a pretty big plus!

That sounds great, I'd love to do that.
