Looking for tips on how to get rid of new furniture smell, it's not really a wood smell but more ammonia-like. When I bought the table about 2 months ago the box it arrived in stank of puke and the wood itself (especially inside a drawer) is totally honking.

I thought it would just disappear after a few weeks and have tried furniture polish and bicarb of soda, and also airing the drawer but the smell hasn't really diminished at all.

Any suggestions gratefully received!

Is it a sealed wood, like varnished?

maybe some drops of essential oils will overpower it. Stick some on a cotton pad in the drawer and leave it for a few days and maybe -if it is sealed wood- mix some in with a beeswax polish and rub on the outside. Not sure if it’s unsealed how it would affect the wood, it might stain so I wouldn’t try it on unsealed wood.

I would say put it outside somewhere airy like garage.
I had new carpet and underlay a year ago - such a strong smell of damp straw. Still not great. I suspect health and safety on the type of glue used.

I've been there OP! We bought two new bedside tables. They stank so bad. I think they arrived around last September, we have windows open contractility anyway, but the smell stopped being noticeable after several months. I just popped my nose in a drawer. It's still there.😖

What about an open tub of bicarbonate of soda in the drawer? It works in fridges with strong **food smells so could work elsewhere.
