Fleas

So I have a flea infestation it seems. I've suspected it for a couple of weeks. Did the flea bombs, sprayed, washed everything at 90 degrees and then yesterday morning as I stepped on my carpet about 7 of them jumped up onto my ankle.
I've treated the cats and got them flea collars too. I've got Rentokil coming this morning so just sorting and hoovering and trying to make it as easy as possible for them.
Has anyone else been through this? What else can I do to make sure these little shits are gone for good?

What are you using on the cats?
OTC products are often ineffective and you're better buying treatments from the vet and using them monthly. Watch that the collars don't react with the spot on treatments too.

Indorex spray is supposed to be good for treating the house/furnishings

Yes, as above poster says, what have you used on the cats? And what brand are the collars? Indorex is indeed v good as it prevents development of flea eggs and larvae for up to 12 months (which the adults will have laid in the house).

You need indorex. Repeat it after 21 days. Hoover before spraying it. Do behind/under furniture as well.
Cats need a quality product- frontline/advantage/something from the vet.

Another vote for Indorex. Boy cat is allergic to fleas, so we have to make sure we stay completely free of them. Monthly treatment for him from the vet, Indorex spray everywhere, especially any little nooks and crannies, edges of the laminate etc. And hoovering everyday to get up any eggs. Make sure you empty the hoover straight away though.

Third vote for Indorex. Best I've come across in very many years of dog owning.

Yes and it was hell. Here's what we did:

  1. first vacuum everything you can
  2. spray the room once done and shut everything. Use RIP Fleas.
  3. You can do it systematically by room so you can still live in the house.
  4. Go back to each room and re-vacuum. Re-spray maybe, shut in again.
  5. Treat the cats with stronghold or whatever it's called, not any off the shelf thing.
  6. Ours were in the bedroom and we bought a new bed, partly because it was overdue anyway.
  7. buy the cat collars that are plastic and last a year (but really they last 3 - 6 months) and put that on the cats.
This got rid of a bad infestation for us. We also threw out the shagpile rug and replaced it with a short hair one. THat was last year and they've never been back.

Treat the cats regularly and vauum the sofa regularly.
