Suncream Stains from last year though tried some bleach with water. Anyone know why the stain turns pink and will it wash out? Other ways to remove suncream stains?

They don't come out IME. That's why I only send crappy clothes to nursery because they put so much on.

Try hanging it in the sun it may bleach it out. You can hang it inside a sunny window if that is easier.

Ok thanks, I'll scrub it and put it through the wash. It is actually my t shirt! I've never had this issue before....maybe it is a particular brand of suncream...

Or I didn't wash it quick enough originally

I'm here for a similar issue. White vest tops that I only use on holiday needed brightening up so I soaked them in oxy stuff. All pink.

I rinsed and tried Milton. Even pinker.

Left in bleach overnight. Still pink.

It's raining here today so no chance of trying the sunshine trick. Is there anything else I could try to salvage half a dozen strappy tops?

The sunshine trick works even in the rain. Leave it out in the rain and then wash again.

I've not had luck with it for sun cream though.

It’s a chemical called avobenzone certain sunscreens that does this, it reacts with the bleach to turn pink. Look for sunscreens without it and you shouldn’t get stains!

Vinegar is your friend

I found by accident that if you bleach it the pink comes out when you stick it in the machine. Have no idea why.

Are there suncreams that don't stain clothes at all? The pink has come out in the wash though it did fade after a few hrs in the beach. Had t shirt in the sun all day yesterday which still has original yellow stains. See if it fades anymore at next wash...

What has me flummoxed is that I sent a shirt to laundry in a hotel on holiday and it came back good as new but when I washed it myself upon returning home, I couldn’t get the stains out. 🤷🏼‍♀️

What could they have done that I didn’t do? Dry cleaning is the only thing I can come up with but I find dry cleaning less effective with stains usually.

Would love to know the answer as that shirt is now in the bin and I’d like to replace it - but don’t want to waste the money if it’s just going to happen again next time.

Do you use non bio and was it abroad? Non bio tends not to exist there.

Maybe some kind of commercial washing agent?

I used bio! And the hotel was in Brazil…not really sure what their bio/non-bio culture is but I’d reckon the former.😬

Maybe I got the temperature wrong or something…but any higher and I think it may have shrunk!
