House doesn't smell none too good. Constant whiff of nappies/cooking/all sorts. What can i use arount the house to keep the rooms smelling fresh and lovely? Any ideas please.
Thanks.

Open the windows!

Even if just for 5 minutes/day.

I spritz the radiators with a mix of water and lavender oil - it freshens well.

Also I like beeswax candles. They sent a room perfectly.

Another trick is to pop a vanilla pod in a roasting tin filled with some water and put in the oven on a low setting for a while.

Rub essential oil on lightbulbs - the scent will waft when you turn the light on.

I also have a room spray of vodka + a few drops of lavender oil.

I use an oil burner, too, and make my own blends of essential oils mixed with a little jojoba or almond oil.

blimey expat - your house must smell lovely!

do not go near plug in horrors

Agree - open windows whenever you can.

Price's candles are good for getting rid of cooking smells.

Give your carpets a shampoo - they often retain odour

Clean your bins

Plug in and other air freshners are gopping. Avoid like the plague!

i work at it, isa

and NO to plug ins and cheap scented candles - they reek.

And fresh flowers when they're in season - Lily of the Valley and freesias are particularly good and unlike lilies, they don't drop staining yellow pollen everywhere.

Keep your windows open and doors closed when cooking, wash up straight after dinner, especially anything fatty and it will likely not smell after cooking much at all.
Nappies - straight outside, don't keep them in your house, ever.
Wash bedclothes and curtains as often as possible.
Any spillages use something like oxy that gets it up out of the carpet rather than pushes down inside, that will make it smell worse.
Erm, put some of your washing on radiators to dry instead of in the dryer and you'll get a waft of the fabric conditioner. (If my hosue smells a bit pongy I throw open the windows and put a wash on).
