Towel storage with no airing cupboard?

We've moved from a huge house with infinite built in cupboards including two airing cupboards full of towels to a small new build with a combi boiler so no airing cupboard (or indeed any cupboards! Having some bedroom wardrobes built soon)

Where do people keep their spare sets?

I know I have to get rid of loads of stuff but the towels are bothering me - I'm thinking a set per person in the bathroom they use then an additional set for when those get washed.

Do you keep yours in the bathroom on a heated radiator or in a unit/chest of drawers (so bulky though)? And what about guest towels.

Ditto for bedding and seasonal clothes! I'm drowning in boxes of stuff and no clue as to where it should all go. I can't be the only one.

I got into mininalism (Joshua Becker and the Minimal Mom on youtube) and seriously decluttered our stuff so our bathroom is no longer overflowing with towels and toiletries.

I designated 2 shelves on a narrow unit for towels and only have towels that can fit on there (rolled up in a basket).

Bedsheets: 1 spare set per bed. Kept in bottom drawer of chest of drawers in the relevant room.

Guests use our clean sheets and towels. No special sets.

I'm coming to the end of a 12 month journey into minimalism/intentional living and honestly I feel soooo much better! The house is way easier to look after and I'm no longer buying so much so have reduced the amount of time spent surfing websites, ordering, collecting parcels, finding places for new things and getting rid of the wrapping.

Reducing "inventory" in the house is life-changing.

Thanks @AwkwardPaws27 that's a good idea. Our pets have often come home from the vets with an old hand towel in their carrier for comfort. Actually that reminds me I'll keep one in the car for muddy dog admin in the winter.

Did three charity shop runs yesterday and off to look up minimalism for inspiration as to how to get rid of more.

My oldest mate came up a couple of weekends ago to help and really unblocked my hanging on to Stuff we no longer need (example all the many ice lolly and biscuit cutters amassed from raising three kids the youngest of whom is now mid teen with nil interest in making ice lollies or flower shaped biscuits)

I get how not moving house can mean there's such a huge amount of belongings as you get older. As you buy new stuff nothing forces the predecessors to leave the house. My gran died aged 96 in the huge house they built in 1950. The Stuff Overwhelm for us sorting our house was huge. We ended up burning so much of her stuff on a big fire in the back garden (loads and loads of photos of many foreign holidays, threadbare linen etc). Awful.

Far better to pare down as we go so it's a manageable amount of belongings....

Off to look up these minimalist influencers now @InvincibleInvisibility!

I keep hand towels in a nice basket on the floor of the bathroom, so people can help themselves and there is easy access to change the towel in the loo next door.

The airing cupboard is rubbish, because the roof slopes down at the back and a tank upgrade means we have hardly any room in there anymore for bath towels and bedding.
I have got rid of a lot and keep the rest in a big wooden filing cabinet, which I wish I could fit into the bathroom. It stands in the bedroom we don’t use as a bedroom, as it is one that you walk through to get to the bathroom. (Old house with weird extensions)

We have a vanity unit in our bathroom and I keep DH & my towels on a shelf in there.
The kids have a cabinet in the family bathroom and that has their spares on a shelf in there.
The guest towels are kept in a cupboard in the spare room.
The spare downstairs loo towel is in the drawer under the sink.

IKEA chest of drawers with deep drawers in the spare room hold our spare bedding and towels (and the present wrapping supplies).

We tumble dry so they are large and fluffy so I like them to have ample space.

We changed to towel dressing gowns and hang them on the back of the bathroom door.
